I think, instead of doing "shape intersect" multiple times, you can just select the image and all the shapes then select "fragments".

Yes. It can be done. Provided the pieces are clearly separated. Sometimes I've seen people struggle because the shapes merge with the slightest of overlaps. That's why I chose this method. Slightly tedious. But works without any hassle. Moreover, some viewers who have PowerPoint 2010 can also follow this method (since 2010 version doesn't have shape fragment option. I hope that answers the question. Thank you once again for suggesting this method and for commenting Daniel.
