This is something new for me. Never thought about the cub ball positioning like that way +4 and -4 plus area within that range. Great insight Nic. You deserve more recognition.

Hi Nick, Im learning heaps from your videos just wish I could get some more time on a professionally kept table. It might be a little hard for you to do this but an idea that I think would be great in this clip is a birds eye camera in the top corner of the screen to see exactly the angle you are playing. Just an idea and I hope this finds you well.

Hi Nic, do you have any tips on consistency? The most frustrating thing for me at the moment is consistency. I can go to the club and knock in a 30+ break and multiple 20's in the same night, and ill go to play the next day and i can't even come close to the 20 mark.. I'm not sure if it is a conscious thing or what, but it is really ruining my confidence in competitive play as well, knowing that i could go in and play an incredible game, or i could just play the most horrendous snooker ever. Very frustrating, please help!

+Apps GH Very big question that will need a face to face session (email at nic147 at thesnookergym dot com) or at least skype time to resolve fully. But your key will be that you will have variables that change all the time (so reduce them), and you wont be properly diagnosing what you do wrong (so stay down on the shot longer to help this process).
@JustAlex19949 жыл бұрын
nicbarrow Yes i will certainly email you, i appreciate the quick response and i hope i can get this sorted out. I often think if this weren't an issue i would most likely be a consistent 30 - 40 break player..

+nicbarrow I don't know what you were talking about in this video. please explain with words. -4 +4???
@choongii8 жыл бұрын
+Mithril Dwarf its how high or low on the cue ball you are striking i assume. so +4 is at the very top of the cue ball, or 12 o'clock. -4 is at the very bottom of the cue ball, or 6 o'clock. 0 would be dead centre, +2 or -2 half way between +4 or -4 and so on.

It was the demo part of a full day session - so must be taken in context. In a full day session I may spend only 5-20 minutes demonstrating depending on what the client needs.

I remember the one video where the master was clearing the table, had a pretty ok break coming. Student tried to ask something and he said "not now, after the break" Maybe not the correct approach for coaching if one needs to do high breaks while coaching. Good player though.
@TheSnookerGym Жыл бұрын
I wanted to clear the table without his mind interupting the flow so that he takes it in. In the context of the session I felt it was the best thing to do as we were very technical until that point

sorry to bother you but im having trouble knowing what ball i want to set up for in my next shot
@Zombies8MyPizza6 жыл бұрын
You'd generally try and get position on the ball that offers the best chances of success to continue your break. This often means, if you're potting the black to get onto a red for example, play position on a ball that allows you to get back on the black, but play it in such a way that you're leaving yourself option if you don't play the shot quite as intended - so for example, if you underhit it then you've still got a shot on another red which you can take instead, or if you overhit it you've got a red to the middle. You'll of course want to plan for this while thinking about what sort of angle you want on the black, you always want to be thinking at LEAST 2 shots ahead but ideally 3 shots ahead - so you might be thinking, I want to get low on the black so I can get high on the red above the black, so I can get back on the black.

My game has improved in all departments , My cueing is better my potting has improved however I am struggling with consistency, I just seem to breakdown on breaks when it matters. Must be a mental thing. I need to sort it soon because it's bugging me now
@TheSnookerGym9 жыл бұрын
Yus Abad This can be for many reasons.... and is either aiming mistakes or cueing mistakes. Both these can also be caused by a lack of concentration... we can skype together if you like on a paid basis to help you work through these issues.
@alabbadi9 жыл бұрын
I think it is something to do with aiming. Although with some of the balls I pot u wouldn't think so. I'm have coaching an hour each month at the snooker Academy with Garry Baldry. We have been working on sighting a bit, I'm having another session this Wednesday . I wish u were closer because I could spend another half day to see if u could find any new faults that others haven't .

Yus Abad There is a ten minute test we could do to confirm your correct eye alignment position once and for all. A second opinion can be helpful and we are only 90 mins away on the train...

i don't really see how this improves your 20+ breaks only your cue action as you are only playing for another red which you have options with other reds. When break building your choice of shot is limited to where the colour you are playing for is positioned. i think i make a valid point here but keep up with the videos i do watch and learn from your tutorials
