ch = front of mouth q = back and top of mouth.

Q = HCH. To figure out Q pinyin say "kyang" that ky is where your tongue needs to be. the Q sound is aspirated and explosive. The Q is made at the top of the roof of the mouth NOT at the front of the mouth. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Yeah he's saying Q is softer than ch in English but I thought that because it is aspirated it is in some ways a harder sound.
