Seen this video before decided to come back to it. Just got a stripe on my Brown belt and the last week or two just feel real flat. This is a great reminder of how to deal with it thanks. Stepping back works big time

Nice video. Do you have any advice about how to release form belt or more stripes pressure? I am training for 5 months and I am still white belt, I see progress in my "game" but I started think that maybe I am doing something wrong or my progress is too slow. I have this mindset: "I want to have long life full of jujitsu. I just want to work on my game" but still i see people who has been training less than me and they has stripe or two. I skipped maybe one or two classes since i started and I think that maybe bjj is not very for me. You know... People want to be good at sport which they are training. Any advice to change that thinking ?

Michael McGuirk yes i think so... but i dont believe in talking that: "belts does not metter". of course it does not mean that you are better person that somebody but ask someone with Black belt to wear white belt instead. It is more like personal goal

Piotr Kowalski Just keep training. Don't think so much about stripes and belts.

Piotr, focus on the technique, training, brotherhood, the journey itself. Show up consistently and all the rest of that stuff will just fall into place. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3uZk6N8eNqLqqM

Piotr Kowalski keep showing up buddy don't ever quit and try not to compare yourself to those people. It's hard but we can't live like that. I'm a brown belt I'm 34 started when I was 14. My current coach Stephen Martinez started way after me but he progressed to world class level has his own gym competes in professional tournaments such as EBI and others. He's my coach now a two stripe black belt, I was already purple when he started training. If I compare myself to him I'd allow my ego to prevent me from learning from him. But instead in blessed and proud to be his pupil and to receive his knowledge and help. So again man progress at YOUR speed and just be glad to have teammates that are good and can help you get better. Keep showing up keep training and please don't quit!

Hi chew. How are you? I'm going to have my first bjj competition in January IBJJF National GI turnoment. My question is that i don't train in an academy. I train from blue belt in my city who trained from balck belts in China. I'm sure in that competition academy white belts will be better than me. Because they always wear gi and train. We don't always train in GI. I started training on GI 2 month ago. Please advise what should i do and shouldn't do when i will be there. THANKS
