Im so sorry you’re going through this! When I was 24, a really significant relationship ended for me as well. I had the same mindset as you. To heal and be as healthy as possible. I didn’t want anybody new. A few months later, my person came into my life. I rejected it for awhile because I was ‘supposed’ to be on my own. Eventually I realized that it was special. Almost 3 years later and I know I made the right choice. He checks every box, as you put it. None of my exes did I feel so sure and comfortable around. I never felt so secure in the relationship. Now ai have that. You’ll find it. You’re rad. Just give it time.

I broke up with my bf these past days and it feels horrible, when you're feeling alone without that person, but something i read yesterday was: what really hurts the most is all the unexpressed love because its stuck with you, it cant go away and of course there is no more that person so you can give this to, and all the expectations are broken because at some point you end up believing that this is "your" person, your soulmate and rie or die for the rest of your days and when its over, its hard to actually convince yourself its OVER. Break ups are one of the hardest things in life. From my experience you just have to put it behind you and focus on other things. It takes time to heal, months or sometimes years, so don’t rush into a new relationship. I married for the wrong reasons at 24 and it ended in divorce. Hey idk if you check these or anything but if I can give some advice, I found it really helpful to block the ex on all social media platforms. Even if you guys are on good terms it keeps you from checking his status on everything, location, etc. And I know it’s hard to even consider doing it but I promise 30 mins after you block them you’ll feel so much better. I ended up blocking my ex for a few months so I could get over them then unblocked them when I was feeling better! Worked really well. also I didn’t delete their contact info just in case they needed something for some reason.

I don’t know if you’ll read this, I hope you do. I’ve started opening up about my most recent relationship. We were at a point where we started talking about having a family. Getting married, all the good stuff. We even had a time frame for when to actually make the push to get pregnant. Now in the mean time, we weren’t doing anything to prevent a pregnancy, but we had a time frame for when to really start paying attention to the cycles of her body to get pregnant. About halfway between us discussing a time frame and “pulling the goalie” for lack of better term, she tells me she’s pregnant. I was over the moon excited, I was 31 years old at the time and I was over the moon excited that I was finally going to be a dad. Then there were some discoveries that I won’t go into detail about, but I basically found out that she was pregnant with another man’s baby. It crushed me. It ruined me and I still haven’t put the pieces of my heart back together. Maybe talking about it helps? We’ll see. Anyway, I’ve dealt with heartbreak pretty much in every relationship. And it gets tougher to want to move on. You say early on in this video that you’re going to take your time, and you should. But don’t take too much time to the point where you’re just comfortable being single. Because that’s where I’m at. I’ve lost my passion for everything I’ve ever wanted. I used to define what I wanted in 3 simple words: “house, home and family”. But I’m at the point now where no one has broken my heart in 5 years. And I don’t if I’ll ever have it in me to risk another broken heart. So you do you. You do what you think is best. You’re young, talented, beautiful and you appear to have a lot of love to give in your life. Time is on your side. Just don’t take too much of it.

I've sworn off relationships entirely because I have no interest in going thru another break up. I'm damn near 20yrs older and have a 22yr old son I raised myself. I'm not recommending u give up on relationships entirely. That was the best choice for my situation, not yours. You're young, just take it one day at a time. Time heals all wounds. After my last break up, the worst 18months of my life ended up being one of the best things to ever happen to me. Perspective is the key to life. I've been saying that for 20+years. I could never see how happiness was a choice though. I used to think that was the dumbest ass shit when people would say happiness is a choice. Like all the unhappy people in the world are doing it intentionally cuz they don't want to be happy. If not being happy is what makes everybody who isn't happy, happy, and that's why they choose it, then why aren't all the unhappy people happy!? Turned out that I was actually the dumbest ass shit in the equation, and they were all right lol. It just took me 40yrs to finally gain the perspective I needed to see it was a choice and know how to choose it. Losing people u love sucks! Losing your best friend (or who u thought was your best friend until u found out they weren't) is a F@#$ING HORRIBLE experience. Do what's best for u and keep doing the shit to become the best u. That's the only winning there is in life. U can't love someone else if u don't love yourself. U can't make someone who loves u happy if u don't know how to be happy. Anybody who loves u will value your happiness too much to be happy with you being unable to find happiness. Most importantly, u cannot teach a child anything that u can't show them yourself. Unfortunately i learned that one way too late in the game. I couldn't show my son how to choose to be happy or how to have a healthy functional relationship. I was still trying to figure that shit out myself. Just ride it out 1 day at a time and let time so it's thing. If u do something each of those days to better yourself and figure out how to make yourself happy, I'll bet u $1000 that's gonna be where u find that dude you're looking for. If u keep improving yourself it's going to keep improving him too. You'll be the best u with the best dude and u guys will be able to show your kids EXACTLY WTF they need to do to do the same thing! I think u should do that and I will keep dropping these pearls of old man wisdom on people who probably won't ever read them because they're way too long lol. For some reason it seems to be a universal belief that anybody who would write such a long comment has nothing worth reading to say or all kind of other weird ass conclusions they like to jump to when they see anything resembling a paragraph😂.....all I gotta do is try. Lauren it’s a lot to read but please . Love is often confused with attachment and to be honest if your going to the past your ruining your present. Real love will feel easy, you’ll always be certain, assured, secure. We don’t fall in love with people, love is a state of being, we love how they make us feel, how we feel and see ourselves is a internal reflection , everyone is a mirror for you to see that. Healing is ugly , it’s so uncomfortable but it will set you free. To heal you must feel the discomfort and make peace with it by letting go. Surrender to the moment and let your heart expand. TRUST the advice Lauren gave here on YT. It is SO valid and healthy! Don't wait for Mr Perfect because perfection doesn't exist. Do wait for Mr Right-For-You. Meanwhile, do what makes your life better. Your person makes you a better you, stronger, safer, saner, and closer to all God created you to be. We women waste so much valuable LIFE and TIME settling for fixer-uppers who didn't ask to be fixed! We need to fix ourselves and then wait for the real love of our lives. Meanwhile, love yourself and make a positive mark on the world no one can easily erase! That's what matters. Your good works and substance will be like a Bat Signal to the right guy. He'll find you when you least expect it, but not if you're with Mr Wrong. Stay available until then, and great love is more important than the hottest looks, bc chemistry is NOT love. Chemistry is only temporary attraction, which fades over the first 4 yrs. There has to be something solid besides chemistry for real love to form and last. Remember that and wait for the guy you can respect because he's GOOD to you over a long period. Read up on narcissists and if someone seems too good to be true while too hard to resist, you might be getting "love bombed". Run!! If anything ever feels really off, it probably is. Trust your gut. Don't get gut punched later with betrayal bc you didn't listen to red flags. Last, anything bad a guy tells you about himself in the first 5 minutes - believe!! Later he'll say he warned you! If you feel completely safe, you might be, and if you don't, better safe than sorry. If MORE women held men accountable, more young men would have to mature sooner, and show more patience and appreciation for the love of a good woman. Stop giving men who don't deserve it everything they want! You can't "teach" a man to love you by making it easy to use you. It says you aren't valuable to yourself. You are precious in God's eyes, and should be in everyone's, but that doesn't make you a match for every cutie who flirts with you. When Mr Right finds Miss Right, he will pursue respectfully and commit right away, but not tell you until later. It's healthy not to move too fast at first, so you both still have room to communicate openly and honestly. If a man can't do all that with you, you are not the one for him. Cut Mr Wrong lose quickly so Mr Right can find you. Most importantly, don't sleep around trying to find your forever person! It doesn't work 99% of the time. Your Mr Right will respect your boundaries and like you more, not less. The players will dismiss themselves. LET THEM GO GLADLY. Better small disappointment now than big pain later. WAIT patiently for love! Meanwhile, love your free time and use it wisely to improve you. Become the woman you'd be willing to marry if you were looking for one.
