Spring runoff is my favorite time of year!! I really like it when the snow melts and you can hear the trickle of water running in the ditch into the creek. A little bit more of the snow should melt again when it gets above 0 in the next day or two. The runoff is not going to last very long so it's nice to get out and about.

When I lived in Maine this was 'mud season' exactly because of all that ground thawing out like you described. Very messy but the spring bulbs would also be poking through so it was wondrful to start seeing some green. The rivers would get pretty crazy with run-off as the ice broke up. We had a couple of years where it warmed up so quickly there was a lot of flooding from the ice damming up on the rivers. The piled up ice was pretty amazing to see when we went to check on the river closest to where we lived.

I get so homesick when I watch your videos because yes breakup has always been huge in Alaska! It’s such an exciting time of year…getting brighter, warmer, everything melting, things popping out (buds on trees, etc) your banana bread looks scrumptious what was the white stuff you added in the beginning with your sugar, was that crisco? Also, your bowl looked amazing! Rice, chicken w/onions and peppers, avocado, black beans, tomato and?? Do you use a dressing?

I think it's just frustration for me b/c where i live it's sort of a blessing but the real cold n snow passes us all the time so at this point im just wanting to be anywhere that actually gets snow n it's crazy b/c a state away....they get snow!!! N this year everybody but us got snow even places that don't normally....but im sure God knows more than me. I'm blessed to have emergency stuff in case that happens and i know everyone is not as fortunate. There are a lot of avid tea drinkers, but there it looks like Christmas all the time n it's tea and hot chocolate weather. So I'm watching this in May summer and this made me want hot chocolate. I love teas also
