the sound that Shelby makes u feel young and so alive! the new stuff can't compete with the feel, sound and smell of an old fast car!! this makes me think about Friday and Saturday nights and my 68 camaro ss 327 4 speed back in the 80s.

@@stefan_4508 yeah the modern gt350 (which btw I think will be a future classic as well) is what, 50-60k at least prolly. I really don't think many people are selling them and Ford doesn't anymore. Their unique high revving engine, ability to make power easily, and stick shift only will make it super valuable in say 30-50 years. If you're even aloud to drive a gas car by then.

Great video, I’ve still got my first car a 1967 mustang fastback white with black interior, I got it when I was 17, it’s got the six cylinder engine in it, I’ve swapped out the rear axle for a V8 rear axle and swapped the front hubs over to the V8 ones so I have the five lug pattern on the car now, I also swapped in the top loader 4 speed tranny also. 36 years I’ve owned it, got it when I was in high school. I’m owner number three and I still keep in contact with the lady I got from.

I don't have a GT350 but....I did buy a 1966 Coupe with a 289 when I was 28 from the original owner in SoCal...and I'm 58 now. In July, its been 30 years of driving my coupe. I live in Alaska so it only gets usually 7 months of driving from April thru October each year. It is a super fun car to drive. The valve covers have never even been off & it's got 210,000 miles on it. Had 124,000 on it when I bought it. I wish I would of got a '66 GT350 but the ole '66 Coupe works for me!

I loved them when they first came out,and I still do. And no crazy electronics! You drove, you controlled. Cars today are way to complicated to enjoy. When you set your butt in this car , and your cruising at 80 + there's no fluff to damper the vibrations. Just pure exhilaration from head to toe.

wow...could really feel the exhilaration of that drive...so glad he's kept it and uses it as intended, even though its prob well into the 6 figures in value. It's true, the old stuff involves you like nothing new could ever...I have a '70 Mach 1 that makes quite a bit of power, that I used to drag race and am now building for track...Cleveland, 4 speed. It does have power brakes but nothing else...no radio, not much interior behind the front seats. Basically the same car as this Shelby...you are *engaged* when driving and become part of the car...it demands your attention and rewards it. my new daily driver has almost as much power, but does absolutely everything for you...so its used for commuting and listening to the stereo. Not knocking the new stuff, but it is not the same.

It wasn’t 1971. I just read an article about Mr. Beck’s Shelby and business, Checkpoint Automotive. He bought the 1965 Shelby when it was 9 years old, in about 1974. 900 bucks was about right back then. If he was 18 at the time, then he was born sometime in 1956?. This video shows to be created 3 years or so ago, so that math is about right when he mentions being 61 at the time. Having known a handful of older gentlemen that “look young” for they age, a lot of its good genetics , but these individuals take care of themselves and truly are “doing what they love” for their work....they are not distressed by it and are happy. THAT is important for a long and healthy life. Mr. Beck is like the super star musician or athlete that’s been doing what he’s passionate about since age nine....he’s like the Tiger Woods of high end vehicle custodianship and modification/construction/repair....And THAT is the coolest thing.

I've worked on one of the many wind farms just north of this track for the last three years. I think about how I must have been wrenching on some towers while they were filming bits of "Ford vs Ferrari" there. Little piece of trivia, if you know the film "Blazing Saddles" the opening and final scene were shot just north of this track as well. Amazing how that spot pretty much hasn't changed since 1974

I’m 61 as well. My dad gave me a red 65 fastback A code 2pls2 when I was 12 . I learned how to drive it when I was 11 coming home from little league baseball practice. My parents got divorced not long after. I cruised it for years. And would drive it to JR high sometimes 7 an 8 grade. I added hooker headers. Thrush mufflers and accele spark plugs to it with chrome rims and BFg tires. It had a top loader 4 spd w a Ford shifter. The car was fast. I could beat a lot of cars. In it. Unfortunately I had to sell it in 81 when I was 19 and entered the Army. I had a lot of other muscle cars after the service. About 5 coups 65-66. But I could never find another fastback. The day after my 61 B day I found the exact same car 65 A code on eBay. It was stored since 81. Almost 40 plus years to the day I sold mine. Iv had it for a couple of months now. I replaced parts on it to get it road worthy but is still runs fine. I’m gonna make a GT 350 tribute out of it. But for now I’m gonna enjoy the stock look of the car also equipped with spinner hub caps. GOD IS GOOD.

As a big Shelby fan, it’s cool to see you running around what looks like Buttonwillow...which is where they did a lot of the testing for the Cobra early on. If so, extra cool. Love the story, I’ve also seen the Victory by Design Ford Muscle edition; one of the few other places you get to see a 350 punted and get an explanation what the difference between a GT350 and a GT350R is.
