A mention for the Dark Riku and later Ansem breakdowns, it is possible to cancel out their “dark homing pool” attack with the use of Water magic. This is a reference to Shadows and Neoshadows in the main game, which are weak to Water when they are on the ground as shadows.

Oh hell yeah, so happy to finally see Vanitas as I love his mind games and how easily interupted they are. I also really hope to see more of Vanitas in future instalments and that he's more involved with Sora. I'd love the idea of rage form and anti form being replaced by a "darkness" type of form that is heavily based of Vanitas. I kinda want to see Vanitas as this evil presence but one that helps Sora. And of course a great video done again! Great breakdown

Great breakdown as always but Vanitus does actually have set patterns, he'll decide to do one of 2 patterns at the start of the fight, which pattern he does is dictated by him either done the triple slam or electric shockwaves, after he does his second DM he will once again decide one of 2 patterns to do for phase 2

A great video! This was a very well-detailed breakdown. If I may add fun facts about this fight; 1. When Vanitas uses the spiral fireball attack, you can tell whether he will follow up with a slamming ice attack or not depending on how high Vanitas flies out of the ground. There is even a 'ding' sound when he's about to dive right back underground that signifies the height. If he flies really high up, then he won't do the ice attack, but if he only goes up half-way, then he'll do the ice attack. 2. During Vanitas' 6 hit teleport combo, you can cancel it by casting Aero after his third strike. When he's right above you and about to do the slam attack, the Aero magic cancels it and leaves him open.

​@@nathansilla3283 some geeky stats that let you know things the elemental resistances are how much damage do they actually receive from such attacks. 1.0 resistance denote they take 100% damage from the element(full damage), 0.5 is half damage, so on and so forth. IDK about stagger endurance, attraction magnification and damage limit, but Revenge Value must be obvious.

You can skip his ultimate attack at 3:47 completely If you do enough damage at him or just hit before he does it like in the video he will just skip it Also if you can't block and dodge all his attacks at that part use one of the links You'll take alot of damage but wont die because using links gives you semi-invincibility

You mean those glitter effects? Those are just the sparks and glitters that come off when Sora successfully blocks an attack.

There were stars in 4:22, Sora got hit there and there are not stars when Sora blocks, these were not Void Gear's stars eighter, since those are diferent and the Vanitas Shadows don't have the Star hit effect

Is it just or I can see some familiar Keyblades in his DM? (Using 5:15 timestamp) Like that one in front of Mr. Too Slow, that one heavily looks like Riku's Braveheart. The others have very familiar designs reminding me of Keyblades from BBS, especially one whose teeth look like Earthshaker/Ends of the Earth. There's this one too with a fully circular guard with what it seems to be a ship's steering wheel that just throws me back to Wheel of Fate. There's also another Keyblade whose shape is literally one of those Buster Swords you can use for Cloud in FFVII Remake. (It's literally just above that Keyblade that looked like Braveheart.) That one Keyblade too that seems to be flying towards Sora on that little area without Keyblades seems to be reminiscent of Metal Chocobo. Anyways, really well-made breakdown! Kudos!

Some remind me of the nightmare before Christmas keyblade from kh1 and the wheel one is more similar to the pirates keyblade from kh2, I think it was even one of the keyblades in the Graveyard in bbs.

From personal experience I can say for sure Vanitas does have a cycle or at least for his first phase. If he starts out with blade beams then he'll do the fire spiral attack second however he won't finish it off with the downward slash instead of course he'll just be open then for his third attack he'll do the firaga combo after that he'll do another blade beam combo and then do the disappearing slash combo into his keyblade glider move. If he starts off with the downward slash combo for the second attack he'll do the fire spiral again expect this is when he'll finish it off with a downward slash (he can still do it if he starts off with blade beam but just not in the first phase) then he'll do the disappearing combo into a blade beam after the blade beam he'll do the firaga combo then go into the keyblade glider. Also one little thing I noticed while watching this breakdown is that if you pause during any of his keyblade throws like during 3:28 you can see some keyblades from older games some of the ones I noticed were sleeping lion, fenrir, starlight, and I'm pretty sure I saw Terra and Aqua's starting keyblades there as well.

Another fun trick. During his fireball shooting sequence, after the first 4 shots, he will always shoot from your left after the fakeout teleports, so you could set up a reactive airstep to cut the entire sequence in half.

Note that whenever he does the ice slam, you can increase your DPS by hopping before blocking the attack, letting you do a counterattack *and* followup (which deals more damage than the risk-dodge + followup)

When Vanitas is doing his keyblade riding attack you can see a dark portal you can use either Thunder or airstep to him in order to stop him from this attack it you can do this during his DM attack most likely around half of Vanitas HP bar, and after you stop him you can do a combo onto him

Don't mean to be the no it all guy but Vanitus has two different patterns depending on what he starts his fight with. If he starts the triple slam attack he will do the fire rain attacks and then do an ice dive then the combo attack and then fire balls. If he starts with the beam attack he will do fire rain then fire ball combo then then ice slam. I could be wrong with the specific pattern feel free to correct me. Also screw Vanitus's DM.
