East Carolina fan here. I see Lincoln making the same mistakes he did while the OC at ECU. Lincoln predicates his offense primarily on the big play in the route tree scheme. LR is a big devotee of base air raid pass concepts. His offense for example runs a steady diet of Y cross,which he tries to disguise, but a DC will tell his defenders not to bite on motion etc. LR has often said he believes in the simplicity of Air raid route concepts. Here is the catch however, good DC”s are starting to figure out that if you crowd the box, use a base 1 coverage or something similar, you can put a great deal of pressure on this system. ALso, LR has his QB almost always look for the deep route first and many of these routes take longer to develop especially if first read is the long dig or vertical. Norte Dame loaded the box , put pressure on the oline with numbers and dared the Wr’s and QB’s to throw and catch in these slow developing passing routes. The same thing happened to LR while at ECU. Teams started to beat us by playing man, loading the box and daring the QB to beat them with the long ball on predicable , often slow developing pass routes.

That is really good insight. Makes a ton of sense and is exactly what they are doing to him since the AZ state Game. Without a big time guy like Hollywood Brown, Cee Dee, or Jordan Addison they don't create near the space that he has had or get open deep like they have. Thanks again for sharing!
@hoderharris Жыл бұрын
@@coachescaviar8898 yes, this system does best with great WRs that can make plays in man. LR loves vertical with ouside shoulder technique by WR. This requires a very good wr to consistently make this catch..... Great content by the way. Your analysis is excellent and spot on, i recently subscribed to your channel.

Great video, I enjoyed watching. On the long ND TD pass, I saw another breakdown of that play where the analyst believed Hartman's placement was intentional, not an underthrow. He called it "throwing him flat." If he led him on the true post, it would have been more of a 50/50 ball, but since he threw him flat, the DB had no chance to defend it.

Great breakdown coach once again. It was clear both lines for USC were beat all night. What I also saw was a lack of discipline and technique in pass pro on all fronts. And because USC is so used to throwing to their receivers, which aren’t very physical or fast, it played into Notre Dame’s hand. What I’m curious about is, if USC really used their tight ends in pass pro, do you think on hot reads Caleb would be looking down field so much? I mean their tight ends rarely get pass looks for whatever reason.
@coachescaviar8898 Жыл бұрын
That is a great question. Also saw them chip with one of the smallest players on the field. Doesn't seem like that would be a great scheme but what do I know. Hopefully they can incorporate them or teams will keep playing cover 1 and lighting them up. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the helpful breakdown! ND fans are all a bit unsure and frustrated what our offense is doing and, or supposed to be especially passing game. There's so many arguments why our QB isn't throwing to open receivers. To me it must at least partially be play calling. If a QB isn't even looking at a receiver then I'd guess he's not an option for him to throw to rather than Hartman not knowing how to find a guy or knowing how to go through progressions... If that was the case the coaches should work on that

Great breakdown. What’s your opinion of ND’s play calling? Us fans have been unhappy with the OCs performance the past couple weeks (less so vs USC) and interested in an your view.
@coachescaviar8898 Жыл бұрын
I think he has created a mentality that is what Coach Freeman wants. However, he does need to be a little more multiple. I'm not sure how their WR room is but if they have any speed out there with those TE's they could create a lot of 1 on 1's that could create some explosives that they haven't had the past 3-4 weeks. Thanks for watching!
@exomake_mehorololo Жыл бұрын
@@coachescaviar8898we have 2 fast receivers Tyree and Faison. Supposedly both quick enough to beat you with their speed. Merriweather who we hoped could be a great outside receiver isn't fast out the gate but develops speed. Fans are hoping we can start using either to create more opportunities down field... Merriweather has been unreliable to catch the ball so that's an issue. Tyree has been great actually but hardly seems to get the ball. Everyone questions why we're not seeing more RPO which Hartman is definitely good at from Wake Forest
