It's so apparent that the show wasn't even close to running out of ideas. I'm sure, that Finn and Jermaine thing would've made a great episode. And your feeling about having a gaping hole is incredibly mutual. It also didn't help that the finale was so open ended, like don't get me wrong I thought it was close to perfect, but it's going to take me a while before I stop thinking about BMO alone in that mountain. On top of that he's living in the spot where Finn got the Enchiridion; where the journey started. This shit is gonna mess me up for a while.

I always wanted to fully experience Finn and Jake’s legacy but I'll never get that closure. The fact all we get to see is such a sombre aftermath, a world where BMO doesn't even remember Finn's name, leaves me feeling nihilistic about things. The only hope I have is that they moved on to better things, and left Ooo behind, but even that shred of hope is dashed when considering the unlikely implications: they would've left BMO behind. Ultimately your right though, the adventure doesn't end and the bleak world we see now might improve in future. But it still kinda hurts, ya know?

Because at the end of “Come along with me” they’re clearly together and they’re both clearly beings we come to learn are able to age for longer periods of time due to Marci being thousands of years old, and bubblegum being hundreds when we initially learn of her age. The pink hands on the bars are PBs once again locked in the ice Kings dungeon, where Marci is looking for PB or a way to rescue her.

Just bc they dont look exactly like forget me nots doesnt mean it wasnt just for a more aesthetic character design. here's my take: ice king imprisoned bonnie and the person with the backpack is marcy trying to rescue her. marcy having simon's gear makes sense even if its not his ACTUAL gear and just something similar to it. the boots also seem like something marcy would wear. bonnie being trapped makes sense because its almost like season 1 of at coming full circle in the future, and it doesnt mean shes been trapped there a long time either! for all we know it could just be the same type of capture she used to put up with and marcy is playing the role of finn. at least thats what i like to think!

Oh the irony. The AT crew seemingly foreshadows Jake's eventual death multiple times throughout the series, only for it to turn out that he's immortal (or lives for a ridiculously long amount of time). Another thing that doesn't make me feel good are the broken and near demolished Finn and Jake Statues. I do like how the walled city is inhabited by Jake's and Lady's descendants. Let's say those pink hands ARE Bubblegum's though... that could theoretically explain the fall of the Candy Kingdom and its mysterious replacement with the Prize Ball Guardian. Depending on how long she's been held prisoner there, her extended absence may have caused the Candy Kingdom to fall into anarchy (as seen in Pajama Wars) and eventually ruin. The Prize Ball Guardian could have been a last resort plan to keep the candy people safe in the absence of a strong ruler, possibly even built by Aunt Lolly.

Adventure time is, and I can say this with confidence, the best show. Ever. I have cried so much over the ending happening. I remember crying in my room 3 years prior to the finals because it was announced. It has truly shaped me as a human being and left a huge impact on me. I have, and this isn't even an exaggeration, cried enough to fill a glass. That might now sound significant, but that's a lot. It has, simply put in your words, left a gaping hole in my heart. This is the beauty of Adventure Time. Even after the show has ended, there's still so much for fans to decipher and leave to imagination. But in a good way. Adventure Time ties up loose ends pertaining to the show. But leaves anything not related to the show's time frame a mystery. Anything 1000 years later is left to fans to figure out themselves. Everything related to Finn and Jake's time frame though, is tied up neatly in the finale. Dare I say, Adventure Time has the best ending in all of cartoon history.

And I'm glad Gravity Falls managed to pull it off. I loved the show to bits and very satisfied with how it ends with Weirdmagedon. Adventure time though, is different. It's a show revolving around, well, adventure! The mystery part of the show is secondary. Which is why they end with most mysteries solved but some still persist. It resonates with the theme, "The adventure never ends". The finale is beautifully crafted and left fans satisfied yet wanting more!

@@soundstation8343 As much as I want Adventure Time to continue, I think ending it the way it did was best for it. All shows must come to an end eventually. We don't want Adventure Time to continue running indefinitely and become stale like SpongeBob. Or, even worse, get cancelled halfway through that the writers had to rush a finale like the old Teen Titans. Because the writers of Adventure Time decided to end the show on their own accord, they were able to well plan out the finale. I'd rather have my favourite show end on a very strong note than let it run stale. As for non-animated content for Adventure Time, I would see no problem with that! There are talks about comics or stories that continue the story of the Land of Ooo. I would look forward to that and I suggest you should too, if you want more AT content.

That's what I was thinking. The MA could stand for Marceline Abadeer, and the pink hands might be PB's, being that she's immortal too. It could make sense that she was captured by the Ice Thing, because Ice King/Simon was obsessed with capturing princesses, and Gunter wished to be like the Ice King. Plus, the fact that Finn and Jake likely weren't around much longer (being that finn's statue seems to depict him around a familiar young age), means that for awhile Ooo was without heroes that were capable of saving those princesses. And since the new heroes are still relatively young, it's possible they don't even know who Princess Bubblegum is, or even who any of the other princesses are

I’m pretty sure that Finn and Jermaine were buried next to each other because they were brothers or died somehow at the same time. And I think the reason why Jake wasn’t buried there is because he never died, remember Jake is technically an alien. I remember at the ending there is a small scene of Lady Rainicorn and Jake flying together somewhere that seems extra terrestrial so perhaps Rainicorns are in fact immortal and so is Jake due to his alien origins and so there just cruising across the cosmos? That’s my theory at least.

I agree Jake didn’t die with Finn and jermane but his Alien race can die of old age that’s why his alien dad kidnapped him and tried to suck the life out of him in that one episode to extend his life just like he did to his other children

It's mentioned (in the storyboard, or by the showrunner iirc) that all four elementals are in the opening, that's the candy elemental, so if PB is alive, that's her in the cage.
