A lot of people think that Bogie falling back in that chair was a blooper, but it's actually part of the scene. The Movie is "The Big Shot" from 1942.

Usually the bloopers of Bogie involve him saying "Goddamn!" at forgetting a line; it's really funny to see him laugh at himself.

That's director Edmond Golding doing the 'woman's part at the beginning--he was famous for doing this to show the lead actrress what to do--often to the consternation of macho male leads!!

Bogart was so serious-- rarely did he ever seem amused... ;). But the ladder and chair both were fantastic :P.

During the 1980 Presidential campaign, these blooper reels were kept under lock and key, because it was rumored that Ronald Reagan was swearing in them, lol. They didn't want to offend his Moral Majority voters. Not to worry, they found them as hilarious as everyone else did, when they were finally released...years later.

Bogie seems genuinely pretty ticked much of the time. So does George Brent.

Not sure about the girl doing the test, but the scene is a flashback from the Bette Davis movie "Now Voyager." The actor who got the part in question can be found at 2:27.

Ann Sheridan was something else: came from Texas with an accent so thick she could spread butter with it, kept enough of it throughout her career till she may have been the most down to earth actress ever its always like having her in your living room, so real you can almost smell the cigarette she is smoking.
