‼️TRASH! Skip this unit. I had a 1400nex for years and decided to try this. Wow, what a huge step down. Maybe, just maybe, scrolling is a little faster when navigating the UI but other than that literally every aspect of this is worse! 1. The control buttons only have about 6 colors to choose from. The 1400nex has more than about 50. I was able to match it perfectly to my switchgear. 2. The dimming is broken! It needs no less than 12v to dim. If your car uses voltage modulation to dim, as most cars do if they have a double DIN anyway, it will just flicker like a strobe light. This function was fine on the 1400nex. 3. Wired CarPlay randomly disconnects. Just randomly. Not a problem on the 1400nex. 4. Backup cam view now has an ANNOYING button for turning the guide lines on or off. It covers part of your view. What a waste. Not on the 1400nex. 5. The mic just stops working for several days at a time. Not a problem on the 1400nex. 6. All muting is a slow drop-off rather than just a sudden off. That means if something interrupts the audio I’m streaming or an ad comes on the radio, the annoying loud ad plays for a second even after you hit Mute. When you turn the car off and open the door, the power remains on for a second so if you were listening to music you have now just blasted the neighborhood with your open door. An unnecessary annoyance the 1400nex didn’t have. 7. YOU HAVE TO plug in and mount a GPS antenna or else you will get slapped with a warning window that doesn’t go away until you hit “ok”. Didn’t happen on the 1400nex. 8. Now the screen is sunken in deeper into the dash. 🤮 9. No cooling fan. Cool. Just f__ my s__ up faster. Even when I’m using preamp out, this thing heats up like a Galaxy 6 in seconds. Toast. 1400nex has fan. Absolute waste of my time. I went back to my old unit.

Bro swear i thought it was just me. The 1500nex is dated yes but I’ve yet to find anything new that’s comparable in sound and features for the price point.

Why? If you buy a high end head unit the DAC in there is better than almost all DSP dacs. There are a few that may be better, although not much better than say a high end Sony or Kenwood Excelon 9 or 10 series etc.

I’ve had this radio for about 2 weeks now… It’s not my favorite, the screen is a little dim and I can’t get a few of the features to work at all, this is the second one I’ve had, and had the same issues out of both. Also for anyone wanting to disable the parking brake switch, it won’t work,I’m pretty sure the safety measures are built into the gps unit…

@@BreakersStereo the high pass crossovers won’t work at all, and sometimes (even at low volume) I get a static sound out of the speakers, which I did not have when I had the other radio in.Also I cant find the dimmer you used in the video. It’s not in my settings like was in your video. ( sorry for the late reply, KZbin didn’t show me there was a reply on this thread, till today)

If you want to spend $600 spend a little more on the AVH3500NEX do the DMH-W4600NEX. The double din will look better in the dash

I know it sounds crazy but I like the concept of knowing when and if it’s connected. If it’s plugged in, it’s connected. If it’s not plugged in, it’s not connected 🤯 Besides, you’re just going to be charging your phone anyway. 🤡

Wired lets you charge the phone while you use it which is good for those 8 hour drives when going on vacation, that said I use Android Auto WAY WAY WAY more in the car that has Wireless AA simply because it just automatically launches when i turn the car on where the other car I have to plug in and I generally only do that when I'm in need of a Charge. It's also worth noting that the next model up (the 3000 instead of 2000) only retails $30 more and thats about the cost of the cheapest Wireless AA adapter dongle on the market so there is virtually no reason for this unit to even exist as that seams to be the ONLY difference I can see between the 2 of them.

@@DanielRichards644 yeah and when it inevitably crashes or drops connection you have to start toggling or rebooting things. No way to figure out what end is the cause of the problem. Certainly not something you want to do while driving. And if it doesn’t connect automatically, which happens sometimes with BT, you have to stop what you’re doing and focus on one device or the other to manually tell it to connect or turn BT off and on again etc…while driving. For some reason, modern society just accepts ten steps backward for one step forward. Totally normal now.

I have no idea why but on this model and a few others they made the front bezel so skinny that it looks like GARBAGE in literally all dash kits. Kenwood did that last year and thankfully changed it for this year's models, but Pioneer decided to do it. Oh well, its not something we sell anyways because theres no margin in it whatsoever
