Just read up what sickle cell was and it involves the deformity of the red blood cells and its something to do wit the hemoglobin as there are different types of it. The life expectancy for people with this disease WAS 14yrs in the 70's nowadays its between 40-60 yrs which sadly Prodigy passed at age 42.
