In Times of war, the military drops their enlistment standards and will give young men the option to join the military instead of going to jail. That’s what that lady was saying with the stop and frisk policies…. instead of getting a few years for whatever petty stuff they put on them they will have the option to join the military for four years and get off with a clean record. Let folks who have never been to war tell you how “hard” you have to be to go through it. I served for 16 years and did 9 deployments on various carriers and it didn’t take being hard to get through them. It took learning to deal with people’s BS 24/7 for 9 months. There’s no fear of the enemy harming or boarding a carrier because it’s one of the most guarded piece of American property. A sailor who does paperwork doesn’t need to be hard to do their tasks and the sailor doing the paperwork is just as important to the mission as the SEAL doing sneaking missions. I’m only speaking from the Navy side cause that’s what I know first hand but there are jobs where “hardness” is almost counterproductive to the mission in every branch.

Well, I don’t know what y’all talking about because ROTC is mandatory in Louisiana for my children and my nephew join the National Guard at 17. He just graduated. And he is going straight into the military.
