The companies were denied increases due to calfornia being consumer Friendly, so they left the state. Insurance is risk management, the state refused to manage the risk and turns out there is a reason why they left.

There was water in the hydrants. The issue is the infrastructure. The city itself wasn’t designed to deal with fires of that level. The combination of the fires and the wind made it extremely disastrous and the city isn’t built to deal with that level of fire. That’s the issue, the hydrants had water, but water isn’t infinite, tap enough hydrants and eventually they will run out.

I live in Los Angeles, Ca. Of course finger pointing is flying everywhere. Please keep in mind that on a normal house fire call, 2-3 fire trucks are dispatched to combat the fire. There's 5k + structures that burned. There's no way that the Fire Dept could have contained it. The same goes for the water wells. There's not enough water reserved to put out 5K + structures . As for the airplanes and helicopters that assist with water drops, they were not able to fly due to the high wind speeds during the first few days of the raging fires. I pray that all of these issues will be corrected when the rebuilding starts. To blame our Mayor Karen Bass is absurd. I believe she was out of the country when the fires started. She took a Military plan back to get here quickly. I know someone has to catch the heat for all the failures. Everyone needs to stop playing the blame game and let's find a way to help our Angelino's recover from this disaster.

One of the fire chiefs on CNN explained that yes, the water pressure was low and several instances there was no water in the hydrants. But he went on to explained that a water system isn’t designed or have the capabilities to extinguish fires that large. Let alone, several major fires with winds that severe. One house fire, takes 3 fire trucks/engines. So imagine thousands of houses and properties. That would take 24,000 + fire trucks. It’s practically impossible. But anyway, more water is nice but there would’ve still have been mass devastation because the fires are too big covering thousands of acres. But I guess more houses and lives would’ve been saved, but he’s unsure about how much of a difference it would’ve made because of how bad the fires were.
