The mikado's whole running gear can be dropped out with just 3 screws. The front most screw under the pilot and 2 screws towards the strap where the motor pivots. It allows the whole chassis to drop out with a few plugs for servicing the locomotive. Also, pulling heavy loads like this will surely strip another wheel set. Maybe take it apart/clean/ and service the locomotive more often if you plan to pull heavy loads like that.

Yup LGB is gold, rest good to destroy. Love my LGB. Converted all mine DCC with battery same as yours. Used 14v li-ion.
