The real meaning of Jake Sullivan's China trip has nothing to do with US-China relations and everything with the war in Ukraine, says Ray McGovern, a renowned US intelligence analyst. Sullivan went to China to sound out the possible Chinese reactions to a US escalation of the Ukraine proxy-war with the use of the last weapons that the American's have not yet shipped to its Kiev war-implementation partner, namely tactical nukes. However, it is also clear that the Chinese would react to such an escalation in their very own ways.

Ray's Homepage: raymcgovern.com
Ray McGovern served as a CIA analyst for 27 years. His duties included chairing National Intelligence Estimates and preparing the President’s Daily Brief. In January 2003, Ray co-created “Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity” (VIPS) to expose how intelligence was being falsified to “justify” war on Iraq.

Sad silly toothless circus bear that is the Russian bear for you. US did not make a fool out of themselves they made a coward out of themselves by their constant fear of escalation and self imposed redlines under what conditions their old crap weapons can be used by Ukraine. Russia has no redlines bombing an terrorising Ukraine so why should we have redlines. USA must send their help to Ukraine unconditionally and learn to trust Ukraine using those donated weapons as they see fit.

I don't think we need to be normalising the idea that using nuclear weapons and nuclear war is inevitable. We should be doing everything we can to let our govts and leaders know that nuclear war is unacceptable at every level. It seems that the West has totally lost it's collective ability to engage in diplomacy. Conventional war itself should be the last resort....NOT nuclear war.

Let the Russian people inform their government that nuclear war is unacceptable see how fast they will fall out of a window! Who is constantly threatening with nuclear war? Is it the west? Is it Ukraine? I think not. When did Biden or Macron said we are going to nuke Russia? The only one ratteling the nuclear sable is Putin for years now. If you do this or if you do that there is a risk of a nuclear war. That is the cowards way of saying if you do this I will drop the bomb. Nuclear missiles don't lauch themselves. No there isn't a risk on a nuclear war unless he fires one first but if he does then he will have no country left to rule like a tsar. Putin is a cry bully "please stop me before I go berserk" kind of guy. Relax! he won't go nuclear because he may be a maniac he is not a suicidal maniac. The west is not responsible for the nuclear threats Putin makes. The threats are entirely his responsability. Stop the gaslighting

The US merely replaced the UK at the head of the Anglo American corporate Military empire, and continued to use 1800's tactics to project power around the world, which worked very successfully for Britain and various other European powers during the 1800's, in the first half of the 1900's the UK EU & US (aka the collective West) had a technological advantage over the rest of the world, which they chose to focus on projecting military power, entertainment & fast food, followed by Neoliberal policies to deindustrialize, before military adventurism into Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, various skirmishes in Africa and Ukraine. Today Europe is collapsing with the US on shaky ground. China and other Asian countries appear to have better technology & far more manufacturing capacity than the US, UK & Europe combined. Russia which the US spent decades deriding has better military technology and far more Military manufacturing capacity than all of NATO, yet China could quickly surpass anything Russia has achieved to date and yet some of the Neocons and Chiefs of staff are still delusional enough to think the US can survive a major confrontation with Both Russia and China at the same time. That's not just Ludicrous, it's suicidal.

China for sure has giant manufacturing capacity they have been building for decades. do regular people support all that machinery is another question (other than with gunpoint of ultimate control).

So can I ask Ray, Why didn’t you do something to stop the rot even way back in the 70’s. Even in Australia there are many of us who believe the CIA orchestrated a coup or at least undermined the government, in the 1970’s of a popular elected progressive government whose policies challenged US hegemony.

The idea that this attack in any way hurts Russia SMO is difficult to accept. Ukraine has not taken the city of Kursk; they have merely taken some, mostly rural, parts of the oblast, or region of Kursk. The largest town they have taken is Sudzha, which has just over 6,000 people. Much of the territory they have captured is empty fields. Even if they manage to take Kursk proper -which isa highly unlikely, it is a city with less than 500,000 people and one that is not significant to the Russia’s plans. The idea that Russia will break down and negotiate with Ukraine is a fantasy; Russia needs not to rush to such ends. Russia has plenty of volunteers, whereas Ukraine is running out of them. They will simply wait and slowly take their land back, inch by inch, throwing as many troops into the field as necessary. When they’re done, the situation will look even worse for Ukraine than when it started: Ukraine will have lost men, used up arms, and gained nothing. Russia will, in the meantime, have slowly continued chipping away at Ukraine’s territory in the south, as it is now doing.

The delusions of Russian/Russian-biased individuals never end to amaze me. Even if Moscow were to fall, these folks would still be saying, "Oh! Its just 10% of Russia, which has been captured, we still have 90% of barren land which we can still use to fight gorilla warfare". Same with Ukrainians. No wonder its a fight b/w two idiot brothers.

There are at least two scenarios of the US firing a nuclear weapon on Russia, but only one outcome. If the US is intending to fire a nuclear weapon at Russia, in all its narcissist assurance that Russia do not have the balls to fire back on the US with nuclear weapons. But, unexpectedly Russia respond in kind, and of course, on the US. That will take the US nerve, and that would be the end of that. However, if the US in all its hubris ways is itching for an all or nothing end game with Russia, and fires a nuclear weapon at Russia first, itching for Russia to respond, and as expected, Russia responds. We can be sure the outcome, to this scenario, will be entirely different.

The 90s were rough, my parents had to queue for hours to get basic food rations. You could only have things like jam and chocolate through connections and favors. Gorbachev and Yeltsin sold and squandered what was built up during the ussr. The fall of soviet union left the country weakened and corruption thrived. My parents tell me that ussr were the best years, everyone had jobs, everyone had homes, everyone was educated and polite, no homelessness and drugs.

Given the fact that the US hegemony has practically ended but the illusion amongst western leaders has not, it seems apparent that the situation is increasingly about how other countries manage that. We are essentially all dependent on the good grace and wise leadership of those other countries ie not the western countries.

Ray McGovern is getting a bit embarrassing to watch. He was a great analyst in his day, but it is time for him to retire and write his memoirs. I cringed when he said 1990 instead of 2000 and 2002 instead of 2022. Pascal was very kind. He is an intellectual in his own right, not just an interviewer, but he makes his show about the guest, not about himself. My respect for him increases every time I see one of his interviews.

As for Ray, he is able as few are to give an hour on topics from angles we have never heard before. His insights are so vast, I really think its a shame everyone speaks to a peace warrior about war all the time. We should pick his brain on winning the peace in both western centric theaters of battle? What does peace between Ukraine and Russia look like? What does peace between Israel and Palestine look like? What are the steps? Otherwise we are slaves to the news cycle and the villians that control it. Visionaries need to start speaking to a future when the swords are beaten into plowshares. Peace.
