Definitely need to get back to finishing coming home redux at some point then! Got some pretty cool interplanetary designs in that already but still a little ways off interstellar, but that’s probably the end goal of that series :p hopefully For All Kerbalkind will be returning soon with little interruptions from now on as we’ve updated to the final version of the game and shouldn’t need to tinker with the install any more! there is an advanced setting in the speed control of atmosphere autopilot to make the throttle control more smooth when it reaches its target speed so it holds instead of pulses like you see at 27:12. i forget what exactly it is, pretty sure its something to do with a PID, it might be a checkbox that isnt ticked by default, have a look. it would make that section of footage look and sound a little bit nicer.

What mod are you using for the Navball? Looks so nice and clean! Loving the series ❤
@Carnasa3 ай бұрын
Principia! It does a lot more than just change the navball though :p overhauls the physics in game to be n body as opposed to the two body system in stock, more complicated, a bit of a challenge to learn but once you’ve got it it’s great and can lead to things like actual sun synchronous orbits/Lagrange points etc, and I find it easier to do interplanetary missions with it once I got used to its (vastly better) manoeuvre planner :p

@infomaniac5010 ай бұрын
It's not clear from the video whether the problem persists after cycling the gear. Launching the planes with the landing gear stowed might get around the tank distortion problem. Deploy the gear after the craft is settled on the runway to takeoff. If it persists, then you could cheese it as a spoiler for landing. I have a give and take philosophy with bugs in simulation type games. If a bug ruins my immersion or realism, then I feel justified in cheating a bit or by turning it around to cheese the bug for something else. The low framerates with full res textures sounds like a VRAM problem. Unity is very wasteful with GPU resources. I'm betting that it's loading everything all at once and using main memory for overflow. The game has enough occlusion code to not pull textures that are out of view. I'd be interested to see if other planets are rendered when you are looking at them while in orbit of another planet. Does this game even have LODs?

"Programs and launch complexes update is a lot more time spent at the space center" So much for me thinking I'd give RSS-RO-RP1 a try. TestLight was already having me on the fence. I don't play games to watch my stuff break several times before it's reliable enough to risk an actual mission on. Acceptable failure rate of any given component is 1 in 1000 minimum before I'll even put it on the launch pad or runway. And even then I'm cagey about using it. And with such low failure odds, why even simulate it when all it does is make a negative player experience? Same with programs and launch complexes. It's not that I don't like limits, it's that I don't like having to micromanage (aka grind) to raise those limits. The less time I spend at the space center thinking "what do I do" or just time-warping forwards with no actual "me doing things" happening, the better. Bottom line, I play video games, and I don't buy video games to not press buttons. Programs and launch complexes is gating gameplay elements behind not being able to press buttons for a while, and that sucks. If that means "I don't get the point of the experience", then I will refuse to understand on principle of "If your thing doesn't look like fun, it's probably not fun and you need to re-think what makes things fun". Nobody would willingly step into a maze without reason. And I won't willingly play RSS/RO/RP1 if it doesn't promise to be more fun than normal KSP, which so far it does a terrible job of doing, if it even tries. Adding management sim elements just sends me personally running for the hills. EDIT: Of course, if I can get all the same "I feel like I did the thing" signals in my brain without actually doing the thing and going thru the hundreds of hours of play it takes to do that, for instance by watching these videos, then I'll do that gladly. But you won't catch me dead actually playing it myself.

Im new to RP1. Have you had the issue where the center of lift/aerodynamics on your planes and rockets does not move when you adjust the wings? Idk if it's just a visual thing, and the aerodynamics are changing. Or if it's not letting move the center of lift at all, and making taking off near impossible.
@ashtiboy10 ай бұрын
you forgot to install the dangorus reentry mod didn't you? thats the mod you need to make the super sonic and hyper sonic aerodinamic heats friction phisics for KSP1 to work right. wihout that mod your can go super sonic and hpyer sonic wihout any heat in ksp1.
@ezsnacklest10 ай бұрын
The landing gear bug is caused by the wheel part of the landing gear having same vessel interaction on even if it shows the part doesnt have it, when you try to select gear up it clips into the part that its placed on and moves it, if you enable and disable same vessel interaction while its happening it fixes it for the duration of the flight, it has to be done for every landing gear thats affected tho even if they are in simmetry. Also it only happens if the landing gear is clipping into a part that its not its "father" part, so you probabily placed the landing gear on the main fuselage and then moved it with the displacing tool and thats why its happening, kinda recent bug anyways Only way to fix it without enabling/disabling the same vessel interaction every flight is to place the landing gears only on parts that it will clip into and to not clip any other part of the plane into the landing gear great series anyways and would be lovely to see you stream another career too

It's kinda funny how Explorer 1 is the symbol for light satellites and Sputnik 1 the symbol for heavy satellites. I mean, yeah, sure, Explorer 1 weighed 14 kilos as opposed to Sputniks 83, but Sputnik was, by far, the less capable satellite. It was essentially a battery driven transmitter whose only capability was to beep. Explorer 1 meanwhile, despite weighing a fraction of what Sputnik weighed, was equipped with a Geiger-Müller tube (which ended up confirming the existance of the Van Allen Belt), several temperature sensors, acoustic detectors (to detect micrometeorite impacts) and a wire grid detector (to determine the effects of long term exposure to micrometeorites). Not only that, whereas Sputnik stopped transmitting beeps after 21 days, Explorer 1 kept transmitting data at full capacity for 31 days (and continued transmitting in low power mode for another 105).
@slome8159 ай бұрын
Well, by that time sputnik II (laika) had been launched, and sputnik 3 was on the way. And that one certainly did take advantage of the capability of the R7. Weighing more then a ton and being stuffed with instrumentation.
@Chrischi3TutorialLPs9 ай бұрын
@@slome815 See, originally, Sputnik 3 was supposed to be the first satellite, however, it quickly became clear to the Soviets that Sputnik 3 would not be ready in time to beat the US, so what they did instead was to launch what is essentially a glorified ham radio into orbit, just so they can say they beat the US. This is actually a common theme with many (but not all) firsts the Soviets achieved. Many of their firsts were rushed, and sometimes barely even functioned, because beating the US was more important than making a functional payload. In case you havn't seen it, i'd recommend "The Myth of Soviet Space Superiority" by DeadKennedyInSpace.
@slome8159 ай бұрын
@@Chrischi3TutorialLPs From the moment I read that first sentence I knew you watched that video. It's a dishonest video to say the least. Or at least it glossed over US failures and ignores areas where the soviets where more advanced. The R7 family was launching tons when the US was managing 10's of kg. And they were launching 10 tons when the US managed 1. And even once the US overtook the soviet union in launch capability there where still areas where the soviets where in fact better. Their molniya sattelites where much more advanced then the US's early communication sattelites. Then there are the luna, venera, and (less succesfull) mars probes. When the US was developing their high effcient hydrogen engines the soviets where perfecting their kerolox staged combustion engines, with ISP's that the west refused to believe until they could inspect the engines in the early 90's. As for doing things for propaganda, it's not like the US didn't do that. Mercury-redstone was just that. 8 minutes in space just to be able to have said "we also put a man in space". This while the soviet union never bothered with suborbital flights. Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of areas where the US was superior. But not all of them, and between 1958-1964, overall soviet rockets where much more capable. Like I said, that video really annoyed me because it was nothing more then lying by ommission.
@Chrischi3TutorialLPs9 ай бұрын
@@slome815 Well, the point of the video was never to pretend like the Soviets weren't, at any point, superior to the US. The point it was making was more so that the superiority wasn't as big as people love to claim. Sure, the Soviets were quite capable in many regards, and yes, that video leaves out many failures the US suffered (such as how, for instance, Gemini 4 actually had many of the same problems that Voskhod 2 suffered, even though that video paints it as "look how bad the soviets were"), but even so, at the end of the day, the Soviet lead wasn't as big as popular media likes to depict it (though what is just as disingenuous are things like For All Mankind, which straight up pretends that Buran was a 1:1 copy of the shuttle, even though it was the superior system in many ways)
@Chrischi3TutorialLPs9 ай бұрын
@@slome815 Oh yeah, and also, while that video probably leaves out quite a lot, it very much does credit the Russians for being the first to fly to space, and does give an unequivocal win to them in that field.
