If you ever tried tutoring high school students and you think you've got everything super easily spelled out for them only for them to say something incredibly stupid, you'll know how Walter White would have felt. Small cues like this show the essence of humanity and how we yearn for acknowledgment towards people we look up to. Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston make up the anode & cathode of the series, where Vince Gilligan is the electrolyte.

So true, Jesse is like back at school this moment, just after having this "good point" when Walt asks for the "particular element" they should use, you see he's desperatly searching a good answer to keep the performance in Walt's eyes, trying to get hints (Walter tries to help him by showing), and then he's just happy to come with the answer (wiiiire!!), once he's mistaken, he's just so embarassed to disappoint his teacher who was for once aproving. Such a good acting indeed.

@muthias45826 жыл бұрын
Well if the teachers just rely on lecturing alone then the students are going to end up on cloud nine. Students will learn more from chem labs than lectures. Same thing goes for other subjects. For example in my experience I had two business classes one in high school taught by a teacher who was funny and I liked but the only thing he does is talk. Plus I didn't have an iPhone then but I still ended up daydreaming. In college I have a business class taught by a professor who uses groups as well as lectures. He encourages us to work on franchises we like.
@somerandomguy846 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right, I'm a chem teacher myself. In a 45 minute class, I only spend about 10 minutes doing explicit instruction. The rest is a mix of discussing phenomena as a group, students doing practice work, or lab work. Honestly on lab days I do almost no instruction. Students tend to like my style, and when they ask why I teach this way, my response is "well you're more likely to remember something you did than something I said."

It’s kind of amazing how all the knowledge that we’ve slowly collected over time as humans is available to all of us, but a true genius is guy like Walter who can harvest that knowledge and critically use it. Someone at some point figured out about the concept of the battery, as Walt is explaining, but most of us don’t know about it because it’s just a part of our daily life in the form of a simple battery. Smart people take the collective knowledge we have and push us further in our knowledge with things they figure out on their own. This is why education is so important and every person should be able to go to school affordably because brilliant people like this, who sharpen their intellect through school is what could push us into further areas of discovery. We are really setting ourselves back by allowing higher educated to be so expensive.
