@@robertselagon4277 Really? I always felt BB was fast-paced from the start! GOT has a lot more character exposition & development to get thru, though these are mixed brilliantly with action/mystery to keep things interesting. IMHO BB is the most consistently excellent series ever made. There are no weak seasons, episodes, or wasted plot threads. It begins and ends perfectly, totally satisfying. And the tension keeps rising, even when that seems an impossibility. Start to finish, BB is tight, tight, tight! Happy to find the rewatch leaves me as breathless and filled with suspense as the original broadcast did.

Podcast notes: Half Measures Guests: Producer Melissa Bernstein; Bryan Cranston 1. Half Measures - pretty obvious, but it’s a reference to Mike’s story about doing things halfway 2. Walt tried his best to save Jesse...and despite the episode title, he goes full measure at the end of the episode 3. Transitional season for Walt - he needs to embrace who he’s become & be the criminal in order to survive. Bryan sees Walt telling Gus he knows what he did & he would’ve done the same re: Hank as acknowledging the transition he’s making. He’s being honest with himself. Vince’s take is that Walt is going by “keep your friends close & enemies closer” - he knows he can’t lie to Gus, so he’s telling a very canny master chess player he knows what’s going on & he (Walt) isn’t a threat. (Again, Vince loves the debate about what’s happening) 4. Walt on Gus’ right hand side - this is the first time anyone has sat beside Gus. 5. In the cold open, a car pulled up to Wendy (Julie Minesci) before it was supposed to, & Vince was annoyed...but someone told him it wasn’t one of theirs! It was just a person looking to pick up a sex worker! So someone got on the bullhorn to tell Julie it wasn’t their car & not to get in! She told the person “it’s not what you think - I’m an actress!” 6. How they shot the car assault scene - one pass with nothing, just the background...second pass with the stuntman driving car & nothing there but a bag on the ground for it to roll over...third pass the two actors standing on their mark, turning heads quickly, then jerking their bodies as though they’ve been hit (many takes for this as it’s hard to do!)...all combined, then at one point, when we see the actor go over & under the car, the actors are computer generated. (30-40% chance of a stunt person getting seriously injured, so they went with CG as they didn’t want anyone hurt) 7. Where does Walt go from here? Hmmmm? Walt seems to have taken Mike’s advice about no half measure to heart, but certainly not as Mike meant it. Walt is looking one step at a time at this point...all very immediate. He can’t think down the road. In most tv shows, you know what your character is going to do & can guess what’s coming, but even Bryan can’t guess at Walt & BB. 8. Walt finally realizes that Mike works for Gus, not for Saul

That poor windshield
@aaronia80925 жыл бұрын
Yeah... I think the car windshield is a symbol for Walt's soul or integrity or just his trying to put up a good "face"... it just breaks again and again because it's an impossible task. First the plane crash, then the confrontation with Jesse, then this murder... He just can't save face anymore. He's deep into the criminal world, and his 'soul' is in pieces, or at least he is a 'scarface' now.

The entire last scene of this episode from the moment Jesse raises his gun gives me chills every time I see it. (Run!) Oh, and I could listen to Mike tell stories all night.

"Jesse, you need to wake up from this nightmare!" Not the words I would have used, seeing how a character took that advice in Hill House 1x09. >_>

You could say Walt shooting the dealer was a "Mercy Kill".

The actress playing Wendy.....I think she's either one of the writers, or married to one of the production assistants. I recall doing an image search on her, and she's really attractive in real life. Just goes to show how great the makeup dept. was.
