Fun fact: Walt Jrs car was the same car Glenn stole in episode 2 of The Walking Dead. When Skyler tells him to take it back she says the manager is named Glenn.

Fanboys of both shows love to cite this to invent little easter egg connections or shout-outs between the two shows, but if you watch both shows carefully a much more obvious explanation emerges: in this time period AMC clearly had a major product placement deal going with Chrysler.

Hank is such a great character, because his humor is disarming, he acts like a comic relief character, but he's a high up in the DEA for a reason, guy's a Class A detective.

Jesse's speech to the group was the highlight of this episode and perhaps my favorite of the series. In that speech, Jesse confirms that no one and no society can really exist without moral restraints and consequences. This is one of the moments that shows Breaking Bad is a morality play.

Yeah that scene is powerful. Aaron paul is soooo amazing. You're right, Mike wasnt supposed to be in this--saul was supposed to do the Jane clean up but odenkirk wasnt available so they came up with Mike. Brilliance.

I didn't fact check this, but I heard Mike was a "fixit guy" for Saul, cause Bob Odenkirk couldn't make it to set? Johnathan Banks was so well received they kept him
@mistermoose-2926

Yeah Saul was supposed to go there personally (kinda out of character I think but the whole scene was probably written different at the time) but Bob couldn’t make it. Mike was sent there to be a one time “pulp fiction’s The Wolf” character but they loved him so much they kept him and made him a character.

You're right that Mike wasn't even originally in the show. They added him because they couldn't get Bob Odenkirk (Saul) for the episode where Jane died, so they created Mike. But you wanna know an even crazier one? Gus wasn't originally in the show either. His original role was just "chicken store manager". But Giancarlo Esposito decided to play him like he had a secret, and everyone who saw it was instantly hooked.

Remember in the finale of season 3 that Gus went to visit Gale at his apartment to tell him Walt was dying and he needed to learn his process faster. That’s where the fingerprints came from (most likely)

The scene w/ Jesse in group parallels Walter's "I'm the one who KNOCKS" scene, if you think about it. They were both trying to compensate for a sense of insecurity, vulnerability, and sorta flexed on those around them to feel like they had more control over their lives.

Well, you're 2 episodes ahead, right? The whole buildup in the first part of the season, all the little things... They lead to something special. You're in for one of the best stretch of episodes in TV history (only matched (surpassed even?) by the second half of the 5th season haha) Masterful writing, exquisite storytelling 😂

Rage is a post-apocalyptic game that id Software came out with back in... 2009? 2010? It's pretty well-done, and John Goodman even voices a role in it.

I like how Mike went from wanting to kill Jesse because he was in the way and being annoyed by him to seeing value in him and caring about his well being he sees the loyalty and caring between Walt and Jesse but he sees how Walt doesn't appreciate him or respect Jesse like he deserves so he is protective with him and just wants to let him be himself no manipulation like Walt does he is like a grandson to him

Thirty-Eight Snub and Open House are both pretty uneventful, even though I appreciate them for the chatacter work they do with Jesse, Hank and Marie. Then the episodes of Bulletpoints, Shotgun, Cornered and even some of Problem Dog are all good build ups. The really consequential stuff starts with Hermanos IMHO.

It's only a slump in the sense of comparing the show to itself. Even the less consequential episodes of Breaking Bad are really great when compared to most other media.

Funny enough, RAGE is a real game, but its NOT a light-gun game. Its a normal FPS game you play with a controller (on a console, KB & mouse on PC) But I guess they wanted to give it that look of holding a gun while playing something violent.

So what do you think? Do you like this show? 🤣 Thanks for reminding me how good THIS episode is! We're getting to the point where most episodes are like "WHOAH! NO WAY!" 😆 Remember when we hated Hank? 🤣😆 Remember when we hated just about everyone EXCEPT Walter? 😆 PS: Not only was Mike not supposed to be a regular character, but Jesse was supposed to be killed off at the end of the first season! So imagine that! Breaking Bad without Jesse! Hey, remember in the first episode, there was a whole subplot about Skylar being a writer, trying to write her first book? That went out the window pretty quick, huh? :P
