When there are only 14 teams and 8 make the playoffs, three of which have losing records.. the coaches of the other 6 teams are going to be on the hot seat. Tweed made the decision to turn into freya 2.0. It blows my mind how Angel City fans scream and cry during the season about how they have a team based on vibes but then they see no problem with the coach and her bizarre decisions that have us finishing at the bottom.

Nobody forced tweed to bench Rocky Rodriguez. Nobody forced tweed to play Sydney Leroux every minute of every match. Nobody forced tweed to take messiah bright, the rookie of the year last year, and bench her for the first half of the season. No one forced her to refuse to give the backup GK a chance. Stop with this bs. She was an awful coach.

speaking of assistant coaches how about the gal who took over Arsenal from Jonas.....she is killing it. I hope she gets a contract......if Arsenal don't hire her, NWSL ought to have a look....

I'm just so hoping that Stoney comes back to SD Wave..... Twila would also be fantastic... We just so need something to go our way here in SD. Its ridiculous.... And Stoney being let go was just .... stupid. ;-) I do hate when fans whine.... but daaaaaang dude, SD Wave fans deserve to be taken seriously. Average attendance in 2024 was 19,575 and highest home attendance 32,066. (this, I did google and cheated) (not this morning with the trivia) lol. So loving the banter with this crew and always love Lisa and Sandra too. Cupo is scrap in scrapy.. ;-) So fun. I don’t think Stoney will comeback to SD wave. Maybe Angel city would be the best fit for Stoney. Wait and see.

As money gets more important, the more likely it is that European coaches will come in and change the way teams play, which will result in wins for the teams that change. If you need an example, look at the English men's Premier League. The English love the more athletic style too, but the top teams play more tactically, full of international star players.

@erwin_888 True, but having spent time in US, they do not sit on their hands like folk with money in England. Once the foreign money came in, the rate of change was rapid.

@@alansmithee8831 curious for the future of wsl and nwsl... german okay-ish IMO... spanish, italian and french leagues are also starting to become less a farmers league as they say it. Then some exceptions on national level like Benfica, Hammerby. and some national teams like Brasil (back!), Columbia.... Future's looking bright!

@@erwin_888 I have watched German and Spanish leagues since English and Scottish players arrived at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. I watched a few French games after Paris FC did well in UWCL last year. Italian football is improving noticably. It is also obvious that the WSL is trying to be the equivalent of the Premier League, which has silly amounts of money compared to other European countries. I speak French and German and many childhood neighbours were Italian. I picked up some Spanish from a stay in Texas and a trip to Mexico and later my girlfriend's parents had a house in Valencia province, so I try to comment as well as watch on KZbin from other countries. I had just focussed in my comment here on the leagues this channel tends to report on most, but I recently shared Bayern Munich videos on other US channels.

Lisa, it's not that Landon Donovan is a bad coach (he is). It's that he sucks all the oxygen out of any room he's in. Landon has a lifetime job, MLS SHILL.

I disagree maybe Donovan can still coach in the NWSL. Maybe Angel city should hire him..the club might do well or not. MLS SUCKS honestly.

When ACFC fired their GM, and had the Igers come in, you knew there was no more goofing off. Firing a coach after one full year isn't great, but you've seen that on several instances in all of sports. It sucks for Tweed and I'm sure she'll land a job elsewhere, but it had to happen.

If we honestly want NWSL to succeed we need the best coaches available. I feel that a lot of teams go out looking for the best female coaches available and are not considering male coaches. I absolutely believe that we need more female coaches in general but the incentives should be made at the entry level, by encouraging young women to go into coaching supporting them with good training but they need to compete in a gender neutral environment.

She seems to be a nice person, but nice coaches don't win. you need couches able to tell the players 1- "Hey, that play you did does not work, do like this" 2- "You are out of shape, get in form" 3- Don't kick the ball out frame; practice kicking low and to the corners or upper 90 and don't shoot the ball to goalkeeper hands. 4- Teamwork; your teammates are here to help you. 5- Get a grip of yourself...it's just a penalty. 6- etc, etc, etc.

Angel city is a mess they don’t know how to win in this league you don’t belong here. Angel city should fold and get another new city to a soccer city that will win. It is ashame to be honest.
