I wish Democrats would push banning stock buybacks again. We know that Reagan only instituted them for the wealthy Republican donors to evade taxes. Capital gains of stock sales are only taxed at half the rate of dividends. Besides, the biggest reason for the gouging of customers and low pay for the workers by corporations is for those dividends and stock buybacks. Who gets the benefit?, the top 10%, who own 80% of all stocks. Those people need to start paying some taxes, meaningful taxes.

How politicians appointing judges is considered democratic is beyond me. And actually one of the reasons (there are more) why America is classified as an incomplete democracy or functioning democracy, which is not the same as a full democracy. It was SUPPOSED to be part of the Checks and Balances of the 3 co-equal branches of Government. Presidential Appointment and Senate Confirmation were SUPPOSED to be the Executive and Legislative branches check on the Judicial branch. Obviously, it hasn't worked. The system of Checks and Balances was designed to prevent any ONE branch of Government from gaining too much power. But when 2 branches team up, like Executive and Judicial, they can overwhelm the remaining branch. We need to SERIOUSLY consider a COMPLETE re-write of Article 3 of the Constitution, which established the rules for the Judicial branch. No more political appointment or life terms for Federal Judges, including those on the Supreme Court. Also, Congress should be able to override a Supreme Court decision with a 2/3 vote, same as a Presidential Veto. We DO still need Checks and Balances, but the current system simply isn't cutting it. ☹️
