Who is that woman meteorologist? She is amazing! Giving the information the locals are actually wanting and asking for. And I love the example she gave about what wind gust might feel like (sticking your hand out of the window while driving however miles per hour). Never thought of it like that and makes it feel more concrete than just a bunch of numbers 80,100 etc.

@@mr.berrys8342 fair point, that is indeed a big shift. I think there is something to be said about words and how they’re used though. The title set me up to receive different information, so much so I can’t even recall that it was speaking about the fact 250,000 houses would now stay above water. But I give the benefit of a doubt this news outlet probably had the best intentions and meant well. I am very worked up by all the other smaller news outlets and FB accounts that are using every sort of clickbait possible then show storm damage from years ago in a different country. That’s not the best example, but the first week after Helene was a disaster of information. I feel Ike the extra fantastical way people try to describe stuff in their title or their thumbnails is making it difficult to go back and search for anything. Or to find anything posted in the past few hours or day. It gets drowned out with people either using the same phrase and having complete different topics of info, or people over using hashtags and using a deceptive title for views. So you are right, this probably isn’t the right place to express this concern. But if I hadn’t, you wouldn’t have said what you said to make me better formulate my point and realize I’m too worked up about this, and need to tone it down so I can hone it in!

Stay safe, 💟 from England A few tips from my Hurricane Andrew experience in1992, that I HOPE helps. The details will be dark. I lived in Kendall, Miami when Andrew hit, and it was the longest night of my life. When the sky starts to form colours you need to get into your closet or bathroom...the trees will start to bend and that's it. Don't trust the silence during the eye because that's when all those tornadoes blasted us. Approx. 100 of them. I did see that a couple with a newborn got into their car once the walls started collapsing in on them, which is how they survived. You will survive but DON'T BE AN IDIOT! If you stayed in evacuation zones, shutdown your ego, and ask yourself WHY, especially if you have children. I watched the news incessantly (ADHD hyper focus, intuition over ego, and need to protect) while my family brushed off the severity of it. My male cousins complained when I made them bring down mattresses and when the sky changed colours, as mentioned, I shouted like a maniac for them to get into the downstairs bathroom (just sink + toilet), there were 5 of us. They were refusing! Not even 10 minutes after going into the bathroom, the glass from patio doors and windows exploded in the room we were all camped out in. I'll never forget their faces. I also brought one of the mattressed in with us, it was a suffocating space and the sounds were indescribable. Luckily, the bathroom was built on the side of the house that didn't have the doors ripped off. One of my cousins found his bedroom furniture and bed 2 blocks away. His clothes were never found. So yeah, good luck, and don't Fu@# around.
