I've watched the Bundesliga here and there and it seemed like Dortmund was one of the bigger clubs, while Leverkusen wasn't as big as them (I've heard that before last season, they were called Neverkusen). Well, besides that, Mourinho did say that Alonso was one of the players that he thought would be a great manager, because he had the analytical mind of a manager. So, that could also be why he succeeded despite his lack of experience.

Edin Terzic resigned, not sacked. Sahin isn't ready for the club the size of Dortmund no surprise he was doomed to fail. There's more issues at Dortmund with buying dross players with some hidden gems, failure to address the defense that has been going on for years and the severe lack of leadership with the players. Can at least tries despite his poor form but Brandt has been dreadful this season ans none of the new signings as lit up Dortmund the way everyone expected. The red flags as been there for years and now the chickens has come home to roost.

Stop this illusion that the Premier league is so much better than other leagues it's just not true. Erik Ten Hag inherited a team from a club that's rotten to its core that later stopped playing for him. He is a good coach with the right players and backing. Ajax is the prime example, literal seconds away from a champions league final until Spurs got their luck. Same Ajax that took out giants like Real Madrid and Juventus on their turf.
