Hey Phil!!! It’s Morgan here! I passed my LMSW exam 9 months ago and life has been crazy since! I have an amazing job working with delinquent youth, got my own place, a schedule that I have freedom to over! And I’ve been wanting to come back to your videos solely for the inspirational things you say so I can stay motivated in my work, motivated in getting my notes done on time. Studying for this exam is not a one and done thing, it’s a lifestyle of serving others and being a professional in all that we do! Show your work!!! Love that. Congrats on the baby!! God bless ❤️

Today is my first day diving into thinking about and taking the test. My sister recommended your videos. I am hoping they help to prepare me for the LSW exam. I am feeling anxious, but I have told myself I am going to use the first test as a "pre-test", so in case I do not pass, I know I can do it again and go full out now, since I have seen it once already. Thank you for making these videos!

Hi Phil, this was my first time toning and you are absolutely correct. Your question are definitely more difficult but I would not change a single this about them. The way you deconstruct the question and the answers are training me to get out of the way I naturally think (which is a process of its own...lol). Your motivation and the time you take to help us is amazing and very much appreciate. Thank you so much and I can't wait to take my LMSW in August.

Also question #5 about the pregnant woman drinking, that CPS response - i agree with the answer BUT idk if it's true or may vary from state to state whether CPS gets involved with a pregnant mother using substances. There are plenty of moms whose rights were already terminated while they were pregnant and many with CPS cases for abusing substances while pregnant.

Just confused why the 4th question is b instead of A because it’s an initial assessment
@Mrs.T3054 ай бұрын
Because the client already mentioned his coping skills in the vignette. Phil explained in the video why A is incorrect and described it as redundant.

Hi Phil, thanks for making these videos as they are very helpful. I was hoping you could explain why in #2, A is not categorized as "feelings" - to me, this is would fit into that subjective criteria whereas exploring "urge" in B would be more objective assess (which would then move A to be the correct answer according to SFAREAFI)

Hi, why is number 4- B? The intake assessment stage is when you are gathering information.
@AutobotChick257 ай бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. I wouldve thought the answer is D- its not judgemental to understand the level of substance use, and a social worker should know how to assess this without appearing judgemental. Its important to understand to know if its to a level that would require substance use support. Plus we arent told how the substance use is impacting him in the question, so its the logical next thing to evaluate. Once the intake is complete, then I could see providing coping skills.

"CPS is not allowed to be called on an unborn child". Didn't know that.
@summerrain61259 ай бұрын
I don't think that's quite true. I just left a reply for that question. I think it varies from state to state. In NJ i've seen women who were pregnant who already were well aware that CPS was gonna take their child once they gave birth, therefore CPS must've already been called on them that this future birthed child will be in danger with this mom. There are even news stories of women avoiding the hospital bc they knew CPS would take their baby. Also CPS has been called on those who use substances while pregnant & they've lost their child, at least where i'm from. And just an FYI there's no CPS isn't allowed to be called. You can always call CPS. Ppl do for the pettiest things. However, as a professional we are supposed to call when we suspect abuse or neglect of any kind (though I haven't seen a hard or clear definition of what that is). Exposing an unborn child to substances while pregnant could be considered neglect. Although this is hard to decipher bc nowadays it has become acceptable in some places for pregnant moms to drink wine from time to time. That's why I'd ask more about her drinking first and look up the regulations in my state first. Some might require a call for any substance use (which includes alcohol while pregnant) and others might not. Do your research for your locality. This is a difficult question.
@askthempress1009 ай бұрын
@@summerrain6125 yeah, thanks for responding. I left that comment in quotes because that's what I heard on the video. I briefly researched that as well and couldn't find anything justifying it as a fact. Of course, it all depends on the situations. I know in practice, that CPS can be called if there is a concern for safety.
