NIL is not what won his commitment; it was the coaches and their proven record of developing players for the NBA. The sponsoring Church of BYU has integrity and requires their sports programs to be financially self-sufficient. Other schools offered AJ more money, but he chose BYU for many other reasons including the culture.

BYU has a solid and wealthy donor base particularly Ryan Smith owner of the Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club.

@@Californiasnow Agreed. The NIL collective issued a statement and mentioned how there are currently hundreds of donors that have contributed in order to keep BYU competitive in this era of NIL.
