OMG!! How did I not find this video before? Hands down !! I was placing all these trades in a paper account (TOS) as he was going over them and everything Tom said was on point except for the futures product where the price has increased since the date this video (2019) was made. The buying power requirement went up on a few of these because they are more expensive now but these trades are way more capital-efficient and easy to put on. I will add these to my options trading portfolio and suspend trading the ETF version on these so I can utilize my extra capital to place other trades and increase my number of occurrences. Can you please add a link to the second part of this presentation where Tom shows how to place these trades on the tastytrade trading platform?

Does theta burn faster in Futures options or is it the same rate of decay? Wondering for 0DTE futures options trade, what happens when trade goes against you with futures options trade, do you lose money faster as opposed to just options trade?

trade often as you can... seems like a hidden agenda to obtain more commissions for Tasty..
@jb62787 ай бұрын
No agenda here!! It has to do with the 'Law of large numbers!' if you trade more often and trade small on short premium trades with 70% probabilities, in the long run, your win rate will normalize to 70% consistently, as opposed to just putting on one trade here and there occasionally, that's what Tom meant in this presentation.

If it's so easy, why don't all CFAs use this?
@VijayKailash2 жыл бұрын
I literally use this, lol. But the main reason is the CFA curriculum focuses more on portfolio management through traditional asset classes like equities and fixed income. Even though they cover derivatives in depth, the curriculum doesn't go into actual trade executions and options on futures, yet. They update the curriculum each year, so it may be covered in the near future. Who knows :)

@@jmiogo That's a fair point, but I think the shill concept fits perfectly for what's happening, as in getting people excited about making loads of zero edge trades with extreme risk using tastytrade, and then capturing that volume via Tastyworks.

As soon as I read “zero edge” and “extreme” I knew I was reading the comment of a misinformed “day trader”. He most likely believes in Technical Analysis and thinks it gives him “edge” with certain “patterns”.

thats why you exit at least 2 weeks before expiry and leave some capital in the account to manage positions in case of loss and when you see 25% profit, take it and leave. It's like playing with fire. But if you know what you are doing, it is doable.

Most futures options settle in cash. But if you’re managing it, you’ll never get assigned. You’ll exit for a loss or roll.
