I had tiny holes in the bottom corners of my Pliage, which is now 20 years old, and they sent it back to France to repair them, also for free. And when the strap split on a leather crossbody, they said it was a known issue so they sent to back to France and replaced the strap with an entirely new leather strap made differently to address the issue - on a five years old bag - also for free. Customer for life.

I’ve been carrying my leather Longchamp bag for 7 years and it’s still in great shape. What amazes me is that people allow themselves to basically be insulted in luxury brand stores.

Likewise - for 1/4 price of 1 Birkin you can have an entire wardrobe of Longchamp that you will leave to your grandkids. The brand stands behind the products. They even repair tiny holes in the corners of Le Pliage for free - on a $130 bag! And they send it to France! They are my most useful bags for travel, and the 3D and (sadly discontinued) Balzane are so good for everything and such good (useful) design I’d trade my Balenciaga or Chloe for one - they’re pretty, but not practical, and I don’t use them nearly as often.

Bought a small canvas pliage in Paris for around £100 and have used nearly everyday since for home and work- through seasons and weather (probably 8 years). Handles still look ok and just started developing some small holes around the base- but still looks smart and classic and I don’t baby the bag at all. Bought an identical replacement and have it ready to go when the original finally wears out. For me it’s a forever classic everyday bag- high quality at a very affordable price. It can even go in the washing machine if needed 😂

Longchamp does so much more than other brands which deserve to be mentioned. They repair 60K Le Pliage bags each year, for free(!), and have take additional sustainability measures using recycled & recyclable nylon. My purchasing experiences here in the U.S. have been excellent, not salesy at all. I am a longtime, Longchamp fan.

Neat review! I've had a Le Pliage bag for over 15 years and another for just over 10. I also have a patent leather Le Pliage around 10-15 years old, and it is in perfect condition. Both of my nylon Le Pliage bags are in fantastic condition! The company fixed the corners on both bags for free, and they are now just like new. For the people in the comments who have said that they used their bags in university and that they only lasted for 2.5 years...it's likely that they just don't take care of their things, which is on them, not on the company. I've used mine in inclement weather and have travelled with them.

Hi! Love mine too but don’t know how to clean it properly.. do you soak in baby shampoo and water?
@jbridges95742 ай бұрын
@@steph-xy4lk I fill my kitchen sink with baby shampoo and water like I would wash dishes and let it sit for at least an hour. Then I dunk it completely for about five minutes, lightly scrub any remaining stains with a magic eraser and spray it off with the faucet sprayer. Then I hang it to dry. I’ve also used Method All-Purpose cleaner and Dawn dish soap. The reason I dunk it completely for a few minutes is to prevent water marks. It’s never damaged the leather on my bags.

I was curious about this brand and glad to see you review it. I'm also glad to see you are including some comparison information on the in-store experience, as I think that is part of the "value proposition" that luxury brands are trying to sell (whether you accept/believe it is worth the price or not is another story). I would also love to see more discussion about the level of warranty/upkeep/after-purchase support offered by luxury brands vs. mass market brands, as, again, I think this area is where many luxury brands are trying to offer something different than mass market brands. In any event, I greatly enjoy your channel and your unique and expert perspective on leather quality and construction in your discussions. I am leather-tained!
@bec215h.77 ай бұрын
You might see here in other comments - including mine - Longchamp IMO is giving better post sale support than many so called luxury brands. They will even repair little holes than can develop over time at the corners of the Pliage if you use it with a laptop, and they do it for free. On a ~$130-150 bag! They are lovely to work with. Yeah it’s a little more salsey than the big name fashion houses, but you’ll be welcomed in, offered water, allowed to touch and wear things, and generally treated like a real customer - and the leather bags only get better with age. I’ve had some for twenty years and they’re perfect, but when a strap split on a crossbody they didn’t blame me - they said it’s a known issue, no questions, sent it back to France, they replaced with a new design strap without the issue, reconditioned the bag, and returned it - for free. The bag was 5 yrs old at that point, and had traveled all over the world with me and i was not easy on it. It looked brand new!

Thanks for doing this. One thing to note -their bags are also extremely light. I don't know what tech or design process they use, but somehow their leather bags are super light, and so ideal for day to day use, and somehow still hold up great long term. So it's a great choice for luxury item you can actually use all the time -looks great, no need to baby it, and it's not going to kill your shoulder to carry it (unlike most other luxury brands). Mine get used constantly.

I've had a leather longchamp crossbody for 26 years, and it still an amazing bag. Have a backpack on the way, we'll see what 26 years has done for the company. I was in a local Longchamp store, and though I made it clear I was only getting one of the things we were chatting about, they encouraged me to play with the bags anyway. Yes, there was interaction with the sales person, but they didn't force anything, and made helpful suggestions. I guess they know that this way, you catch more flies with honey. I'll be back to purchase some of those bags I played with.

They have smooth and also pebble leather products, and they’re known for the light weight of their bags - it’s sort of a signature. It’s the only men’s bag my husband will carry because all the others game felt so heavy/bulky my comparison. They also make a leather Pliage - it’s Métis, a goat-lamb hybrid leather that is soft and pliable like lamb but strong and more scratch resistant like goat. (It’s what Chanel should be using instead of their infamously fragile lamb, imo!)

(Those customized ones were made in France at their Maine et Loire factory)Even though they are mostly nylon they are still very reliable and still going strong. A couple of them have holes on the corners but normal with wear and tear. Longchamp will fix it for you for one time for free of charge when you take it into a boutique. Last time I asked about it they said it would take a few weeks to get repaired. Unfortunately don’t have a boutique near me as I live in the countryside but would definitely use them for repair very easily at their boutique if there was one nearby.

I am glad to hear your conformation Longchamp is a great brand. Regarding your costing, it would be fairer to not just factor material and labour only but include overhead costs such as rent and running costs of the factory and stores, design and build of the stores, marketing cost and research and development cost. Any surplus after these extra costs would be the luxury brand premium.
