Always giving us great info to make important decisions, so we don’t waste money buying stuff that won’t do what we intended it to…wether it’s rods, hard baits, soft baits, etc. there’s two rods I need to add to my collection…a jerkbait and swimbait rod. Question for you. Because of watching your KZbin Videos on the ITO Vision 110 series of jerk baits, over this past year I really started fishing the Ito Vision 110, 110 Jr, 110 +1, and 110 +1 Jr jerk baits exclusively. (By the way, your Your KZbin videos are super helpful.) I am looking to upgrade my jerk bait rods and reels. I am willing to step up in price. I'd like to figure out a bait casting and spinning rod set up for the above mentioned Ito Vision OneTen line up. I'd like to solicit your insight on a rod and reel for both a bait caster and a spinning rod set up. Quick back story: I love to throw jerk baits and have for years. Up until this year I usually tied on Pointers. My current bait caster is a slick little set up that isn't all that heavy nor is the set up all that pricing. My bait caster is the Mojo Bass Jerkbait rod with an Abu Garcia Revo AL-F. I need some help with my spinning rod set up. I throw the Mojo Yak 7' Med Lite with a Pfleugher Patriarch. This is a "so-so" to OK set up. It catches fish, but I'm just not sold on this being my long-term spinning rod set up As an fyi - one of the main reasons I like St Croix rods is their warranty. Not that I break rods all the time, but when I do St. Croix is super easy to deal with. I call, someone from St. Croix picks up the phone (yes a true live person picks up the phone,) I explain my conundrum, I pay for shipping and the repair cost, they email me a shipping label, you get the point. So when you give you recommendation please take into account that when I break something (again not often, but it does happen) the manufacture/s will assist with problem solving. PS - you have peaked my interest on the Destroyer Line Up of Rods.

Off topic here but As i sit here and look at my 12+ dark sleepers laying out on the table I can’t help but suggest that Megabass make a dark sleeper box. This is definitely a go to store,in my humble opinion though, and I catch hundreds of stripers a year the best for me is a 6-8! G Loomis swim jig spinning rod,better control and after 500 cast I’m ready to go the next tide. You will be too! I fish a lot, spinning is better for this, and I give my clients spin gear even if they are experienced and they sometimes write back to me on the home water that spinning increased there success on multiple levels when using jerk baits.jerkbaits are situational, soft bait single hook work better in clear water.

I can only imagine how light the 110 P5 Destroyer is. The P5 Tequila Baccarac is crazy light and it's a 7.5 X Heavy. That medium action has got to be a feather, especially a 6ft 5 P5. I gotta get one, I got a pile of 110's. I use an Expride, but that P5 is calling my name...lol. *Edit...I was gonna be good and not spend anymore at HUT this week as I'm in for like $250 for the week (becoming the norm). I went in and my kid looks up and says dad can we play this game...lol (scratch off) I said I'll play the game, you can watch. I don't normally play. I picked a mega 500 and some other one which was sold out, so I got a second mega 500, which ended up hitting for $500. So I was gonna get the P5 but they're sold out, so I got the Orochi xx Jerkbait special and still have $200 left from my little win. So the lottery paid for my HUT spending this week! 😃

Thanks for your explanations. This was absolutely informative. If you don‘t mind to answer a question….what is the difference between a jerk (respectively jerkbait) and a twitch (respectively twitchbait)? I think all minnow-ish baits should be considered as twitch baits with less of a push in slack line (e.g vision oneten) and baits with a more beefy profile and bigger lips should be jerked with more push in slack line. Is this reasonable? I have the impression to overwork my onetens too often by pushing to hard….
@thehookuptackle_usa3 жыл бұрын
Not really a category difference. Every bait is designed to be used differently - either lighter or harder movements.

My Jerkbait /Topwater walking rod is a 6' 3"Med light power Xtra fast tip spinning rod, I have been wondering why it seemed to respond and get so much better hook penetration than my 6'10" higher end rod, not to mention the weight difference. What you where saying is spot on, I have no problems with distance either. I won't mention the brand because you don't carry that particular rod and I only paid 100$ for it but for real i was really impressed with this newish company's gear and the stuff does NOT look like it is cheap gear.
