“Dean” from Missouri is foolish to suggest that Oklahoma and Texas are “begging” to join the SEC. Aside from TAMU, the SEC wants this to happen because OU and Texas are football royalty who bring loads of value and prestige to a conference which boasts value and prestige already.

As for the Aggies leaking the information attempting to block Texas...because of one thing....recruiting. ATM main pitch was we're in the sec and Texas and OU is not. Well that selling point is gone. Also half the coaches at Texas already coach and competed in the SEC. They know those teams. Both school are going do well in the sec. FBS Football: ------------- 1. Eliminate all existing conferences. 2. Restrict the FBS to 130 teams. 3. Establish 10 13-team sub-divisions: (I, II, III, . . . X). 4. Every year each team plays 1 game against the 12 other teams in the sub-division. 5. There must be 6 home games and 6 away games. No neutral-site games. (Ok, maybe one game per year per team at a neutral site, … maybe.) 6. At the end of the regular season: (a) Rank each team in the sub-division based their won-loss record. (b) There will have to be NFL-style tie-breaking procedures in place. (c) The top team in each sub-division becomes the “winner” of that sub-division. (d) Relegate the bottom 2-4 teams from each sub-division to the sub- division beneath it. (e) Promote the top 2-4 teams from each sub-division to the sub-division above it. 7. Bowl games and championship: (a) Select the top (8-10-12 ?) teams from sub-division I to participate in the NC playoff games. (b) Populate the other bowl games from the remaining teams in all 10 sub-divisions. (c) Conduct the bowl games and playoff games.

@@ZeusAssassin like I said, everything is speculation at this point. I have always said the AAC has some teams on par with the teams of the Big12 and Pac12. The AAC needs to expand their brand, maybe a streaming service for their games. Something to get more eyes on their teams. They need to fill their stadiums. They need to collectively stop the pay for play games and get more home and home series with the big brands of college football. It's easier to win home games, and those wins will generate new fans for the teams. Having a good team is nice, but there are other things to consider as well. It is quite possible that the remaining 8 break up after 2025. Maybe the AAC gets some of those Big12 schools, but at that point are those schools making the conference better? If West Virginia leaves the Big 12, maybe the remaining 7 focus on UCF, Coastal Carolina, USF and another for that pod instead of the Midwest Cincinnati Central Michigan and Northern Illinois. No one knows.

The ACC won't offer WVU membership anytime soon, if ever. West Virginia just lost a congressional seat, the demographics are terrible. The Mountaineers are a last resort prom date not a first choice. In other words WV will be there if the ACC decides to extend an invitation. Did I mention the academics in Morgantown? Not exactly what the ACC looks for in new members. It might happen, but it doesn't solve any issues for the ACC. For now keeping Clemson and Florida State in the fold are priority number one.

It's not their religious belief that is keeping them out. BYU will never be a member of the Pac-12 because of their dogmatic refusal to play sports on Sundays. The NCAA Tournament has to make accommodations for BYU if they get a bid and the tournament committee seeds them differently so they don't have to ever play games on Sunday. That's a major problem with the Pac-12 because they have played a huge amount of their sports on Sundays for decades. They're not going to change the long held scheduling model that they've been using forever just to placate BYU. They don't need them because they already have the Salt Lake Metropolitan TV market with Utah being in the conference. If BYU was going to be invited to join that league, they would have been invited to join back in the 1980's and 1990's when they were still a great football program. When they placed their non-football sports in the West Coast Conference, which is a conference made up exclusively of private, religious universities, the league had to change their scheduling models so BYU wouldn't ever have to play any sport on Sunday. They changed their basketball conference tournament schedule to accommodate said refusal, which is why the WCC plays the odd Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday schedule they do. www.deseret.com/2016/6/25/20590989/never-on-sunday-byu-won-t-compete-on-the-sabbath-day-regardless-of-the-consequences#byu-offensive-tackle-eli-herring-76-prepares-to-block-a-notre-dame-player

If I am the AAC I am trying real hard to get every left over relevant team to join. If you can get a league of 20+ decent teams in both BBall and Football, even if none of them are elite, then you have a shot to at least get one spot in a 12 team playoff. So lets say, Oklahoma St and Texas Tech leaves for the PAC, and Kansas and Iowa St move to the Big 10, WV heads to the ACC. If the left over Big 12 teams merge with the AAC what you would get is- Baylor, TCU, Kansas St, Cincinnati, Tulsa, Memphis, UCF, SMU, Houston, Navy, Tulane, East Carolina, Temple, South Florida so 14 teams. There are other teams of stature out there in other conferences like the Mountain West who they could headhunt, namely Boise St, Nevada, San Diego St, Hawaii, Fresno St, Air Force, Colorado St, BYU, App ST, Marshall, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, and a few others. If you are a team in the AAC, Mountain West, or Conference USA, this is your only shot to stay relevant. Build your own Super conference with 22-24 teams.

@@robertl5606 The fact that a non-denominational church was built on the Stanford campus in 1903 doesn’t therefore mean that Stanford is a religious institution, nor does USC’s origins, especially since it became a secular university in 1957. @@robertl5606 However, the other thing that needs to be mentioned is that Baylor is far more religiously affiliated than TCU is. TCU is not governed in the slightest by any religious organization. Inside scoope for why jimbo says" he will kick nick Sabans ass" because he has the bigger portion of Texas recruiting than what UT has but if UT joins the conference then them having sec recruiting and ATM not having an sec title after ten years they will lose their recruiting stronghold of Texas to UT who could probably give them a run for their money now as is and Oklahoma also has a massive Texas recruiting foothold and that's not gonna change it'll probably just grow with the SEC brand behind them so ATM will more than likely become irrelevant in the SEC with Texas joint and bringing the redheaded step child, Oklahoma with them who I think in their first SEC season will win the SEC and Iowa state is going to probably join the big ten and join big brother Iowa giving a lot of value because their rivalry is pretty big and both schools are AAU and competitive in wrestling and basketball

The Big 8 Conference should have never merged with the SWC and those Texas schools. Because of it's greed the University of Texas has managed to cause the downfall o both of those conferences. They forced of Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas A&M because they wanted their own TV network and wanted a bigger piece of the pie than the other member schools.
