We need a system, similar to WIC checks, that limits the purchase of critical items-like water, batteries, and gas-during emergency situations to ensure everyone has a fair chance to prepare and survive. Right now, a single person can clear out shelves the moment a state of emergency is declared, leaving others vulnerable. We must set reasonable limits on these essentials and encourage hotels to lower rates, not exploit people by hiking prices. I live in Tampa Bay and no one in the store was panic buying, were the shelves more bare? yes because we just had a hurricane (helene) but everyone in the stores I was in took only what they needed. Additionally my neighbors all know each others plans and supplies so we can take care of one another. My experience has been incredible. Ive lived in other states during hurricanes and it was a MADHOUSE, everyone in Florida is level headed,did what they need. Gas is always the first to go so they are doing the best they can. If you live in Florida - you need to always be prepared.

I've watched and read years ago that you can generate and even control the strength and trajectory of a hurricane by heating the surface of the ocean to trigger the storm, and I've noticed here in Hawaii everytime a hurricane starts to form and starts tracking towards the Islands the weather is unusually more hot and humid, as if they're using some satellites or radar microwave technology to heat up the environment or even the ocean. Just guiding the storm and keeping it hurricane strength seems to still have bugs they need to work out in 2024
