Mike, you're my working class hero - I'm an old veteran, 72 years old - I grew up with hardworking people, friends and family - you epitomize all those people I worked with including me - you're mature way beyond your young age, and I see nothing but success for you because you're a heart centered, caring person at heart - I just have one request, you, like Ryan constantly say "it is what it is", a nonsensical sentence that means nothing, redundancy upon redundancy - you're a great family man, and that is extremely commendable- keep on keeping on Mike, you and your family deserve all of the good things in like - best wishes for the rest of your life

Went to my car grabbed my portable tv and watched Peter Jennings. It was a terrible terrible day!! A friend of mine worked in tower 2. Thank god he was off but several of his friends were not. He told me in 1 day he went to 7 funerals. (obv after they found remains) And in total lost 30 coworkers. I call him every year on 9/11 not just the usual text. Anyway God Bless America!! Take care Mike.

9/11 I was working at a warehouse driving forklift 3rd shift and got home, flipped on the news and heard the breaking news of the 1st tower hit before they even knew what type of plane and saw the 2cnd tower get hit live and immediately shouted that we were at war! I stayed up watching that entire day and never slept , and had the news on for an entire week...that day changed so many things around the entire world!

9/11/2001 working for the railroad, I was teaching a safety class at Union Station in Chicago. The morning commute into Chicago was winding down and they ordered the evacuation of the downtown area of the city. It turned into an all hands on deck situation as we had to turn the commute around and get about 150k people back through the station and out of the city. Craziest day I had in 44 years of railroading. I remember walking onto the street at about 3pm downtown Chicago and the streets were empty and it was a ghost town. Crazy time.

On 9/11, i was 30 feet down in a shaft( 20'L 10'W) in downtown Houston Tx. trying to fit a 36" (random) pipe for a big chill water pipe project (Teco). Kirby the welder races down the ladder and says louis (the super) wants to talk to all of us, I said man we messed up this time. Louis was always straight forward no sugar coating guy. This was the exception, with teary eyed he told us what was happening. Near by was a deli, we knew there was a TV in side. We all hurried inside. That was the first time the owner didt say a word about our totally muddy feet. We were all glued to the tube. I was 22 at the time.

09-11-2001… worked patrol on the midnight shift. Wife was at work. I raced home to relieve my mother-in-law, who was sitting for us for a few hours. Just as she left, the first plane hit. I stood in shock, skeptical that it was a possible accident and suspecting the worst. The worst happened shortly after. The second plane hit. The chaos was underway. And then the reports of other hijackings followed. The crash at the Pentagon… the crash in Pennsylvania…. So many lost. Such heart-ache. Our world changed as we knew it. Thanks for talking about it Mike. So many people have forgotten what occurred. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. Stay Safe everyone!!!

Obviously as your business grows and your wife becomes a working partner, please allow your son the privilege of learning some of your many talents as in the skid, welding, plowing, and the many disciplines that are involved. In this new world, you NEED to enjoy what you do and certainly one must afford to live. The trades are the most assured manner of doing just such not to mention playing with a loader, a skid, a trailer, dump truck, hoe or excavator and simply understandng the many skills needed to undertake a venture. These skills are FUN and rewarding. A successful journey to you and yours. Blessed Thanksgiving 2024 at all.

Awesome video, 2 comments. The wires on those sprinkler devices are for the tamper valves that let the system know when someone has closed or opened them. They only effect the system if turned off and allow no water flow. As for 9/11 I was working at a chemical plant south of Richmond Virginia as an electrician and heard the news right away, as a coworker said they hit the tower with a plane. I was like most likely a small plane. Well come to find out I was way off. I was also currently a Virginia Air National Guard member as a F16 crew chief. Well being south of Richmond was also south of the airport and noticed right away that there were no aircraft flying anymore. Well, the next Saturday I attended our normal drill schedule and never went back to the chemical plant for just over a year and a half. Our unit was flying daily missions over DC and New York City and also covered part of the alert aircraft for any instances over DC or New York City. A sad day for sure.

For future info mike, sprinklers only go off to heat. The sprinklers have a heat rating they rupture at. The starting temp is 155 degrees most of the time. Smoke detectors are the only things that sound when smoke is present.

The worst case scenario I had as a fire sprinkler installer was someone who was sweating their brass lines next our heads. He scored the roof insulation, popped out sprinkler head bulb, and he had to pay for it all to be fixed and replaced. He did it in a bout 4-5 locations. Only saving grace to him was we turned the water off at the main control valve since it was all new construction.

Sprinkler glass vials have mercury in them that expands when heat is introduced causing the vial to break and water to flow into the shroud and fan out, smoke will not set them off sir.
@irunwire85284 ай бұрын
They don’t use mercury anymore in the vials. Most sprinkler heads have fusible plugs that melt at the desired temp as required by code and the sprinkler design.
