Fantastic interview. This has helped me a lot with my Analysis report I am currently writing. I loved “We bring the tinsel but they [the director] bring the tree”

The introduction to virtual cinematography, perspectives, placement, and lighting used in the Matrix still resonates today. The interview was most revealing in the struggle with the creative process and the degree of insecurities harbored among some brilliant directors. Most humbling is how Mr Pope was never nominated for an academy award throughout his amazing career. Suspect it takes more than talent...

Let's hope Alita Battle Angel happens to be his fighting chance to earn a nomination.

So brilliant. I just looked up Bill Pope after I discovered he worked on Baby Driver. He married Sharon Oreck who wrote a book on those music videos he DP'd on. Interesting. Metalica got shitfaced when they filmed "One"
