@WardyNYM anyone who doesn't like this signing needs to buy a clue. 2.62 ERA last season
@MarineCorvette12 сағат бұрын
How's it going Wardy? 59 year old disabled dude who's been watching your content for the last couple years or so. I'd like to take a moment, (as my first ever comment) to thank you for all the work that you do and the excellent, knowledgeable content you share with us fellow Mets fans. I understand that there's a considerable amount of work that goes on behind the scenes. Know that you are appreciated and you bring a smile to this life-long Mets fan, whenever you share your content. I'm fairly certain that I speak for the whole gang. Keep doing what you do, my friend. You do it well and I sincerely hope that another door or a window opens up for you, so that you can share your voice to ALL Mets fans. Not just within the confines of your channel. God Bless you and your family, Sir. Keep up the good work.

I don't argue or debate with people who see everything as negative... ok so we didn't sign Tanner Scott and got A.J. Minter instead... so what? The critics would think we signed a minor leaguer or rookie! The fact is we got a legitimate professional... someone who will be valuable to the Mets this season. Let's move on with that-period.

A thought and comment for David Stearns. My comment: I'm very much pleased with the job that Stearns has been doing this far, especially with regards to his selections for reclamation players. However, one tool I think he might add to his negotiating arsenal would be to use incentive based short term AAV contracts, for instance in the Pete Alonzo long term negotians: He could have offered Pete a short term AAV contracts with included performance bonuses such as; an extra $ 2.5 million dollar bonus for reaching 35-40 home runs, an extra $2 me llion dollar bonus for achieving a batting average ranging between 265-280, and extra $1 million dollar bonus for increased slugging percentage. Such incentives would put the onus on Pete to exhibit better plate performance and discipline whereas his failure to do so would be only make Pete accountable to help himself. Such contract are used for PICTHERS, why not ad this medium for other players making themselves responsible for bed ng paid for their pay? With the current contracting venue, their is really no incentive for players to maintain or surpass current levels of performance!
@Pcbdude8213 сағат бұрын
I disagree with this. I think a big part of the reason Pete was bad last year, is because the team as a whole was absolutely shit. And he put pressure on himself to carry them. Adding bonus for hitting goals, might just once again cause himself to force the issue. We need a free swing and happy Pete. Which I why I think Stearns is an idiot. Not saying he shouod just give Pete a blank check. But go a little above and beyond. 1. Pete has earned it. 2. We need Pete. A solid Pete behind Soto and this offense becomes extremely dangerous.

Wheeler, Murphy, Reyes, Gooden, Strawberry (both mentioned that very thing at number retirement ceremonies). '86 WS MVP - Ray Knight, Seaver was traded!!! Re-aquired, then left unprotected from waivers. Jeff Kent, Mike Scott, Heath Bell, Jeff Reardon, Cone, Turner, Sewald, Ken Singleton, Amos Otis, Matlack, Marco Scutaro, Mazzilli, McDowell, Dykstra, and Kevin Mitchell ('89 MVP) Not everyone goes into decline

@ Yeah I see this as a popular opinion but it goes directly against what Cohens stated himself.. he’s said stearns has “substantial autonomy” (his words) over the roster. Yeah, the Cohens were a big part of schmoozing Soto as they should be with a FA like that, but the pres gets the pen to sign the paper. TLDR Cohen is a hands off owner per his own words and he’s said he behaves similarly in his hedge fund.
