The demands of these workers seem justified. The Delhi government should ensure that these contract workers get their pending wages and take concrete steps to make them permanent.
Apart from this, we should remember that the Contract System Act was introduced in 1970. It was said that this law will stop the contract system and will eradicate the contract system from its roots.
But the lives of workers working in every sector of the country have been experienced.
In the last 54 years from 1970 till today, political parties have been changing in the Central and State governments , but the practice of contracting has not been completely eradicated , let alone curbing it.
You may remember that Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party had claimed to regularise the contract labourers.
But for the people of Delhi this has proved to be just a hollow claim.
The contract system has become a man-eating system for the workers of the country.
In which there is no job security for the workers. In which there is no guarantee of a better living wage.
In this contract system, there are no health facilities for the workers and their family members and they are deprived of the right to pension.
Due to this contracting system , workers are being over-exploited by the nexus of big corporates , contracting agencies and governments.

दोस्तों,
इन मज़दूरों की मांग जायज लगती है। दिल्ली सरकार को इन काॅन्ट्रेक्ट मज़दूरों का बकाया वेतन दिलाना चाहिए और इन्हें पक्का करने पर ठोस कदम लेना चाहिए।
इसके अलावा हमें याद रखना चाहिए कि 1970 में ठेका प्रथा कानून लाया गया था। यह बोलकर की इस कानून से ठेका प्रथा पर रोक लगेंगा और ठेका प्रथा को जड़ से मिटेगा।
लेकिन देश के सभी सेक्टरों में काम करने वाले मज़दूरों के जीवन को अनुभव रहा है।
1970 से आज-तक बीते 54 सालों में केन्द्र सरकार या राज्य सरकारों में राजनीतिक पार्टियां बदली रही है, लेकिन ठेकेदारी प्रथा को जड़ से मिटाना तो बहुत दूर की बात है, उसपर अंकूश भी नहीं लगाया गया है।
आपको याद होगा, दिल्ली की सत्ताधारी आम आदमी पार्टी ने ठेका मज़दूरों को पक्का करने का दावा किया था।
लेकिन दिल्ली की जनता के लिए ये सिर्फ एक खोखला दावा साबित हुआ है।
देश के मज़दूरों के लिए ठेका प्रथा एक आदमखोर व्यवस्था बनकर खड़ी है।
जिसमें मज़दूरों की नौकरी की कोई सुरक्षा नहीं है। जिसमें बेहतर जीवन जीने योग्य वेतन की गारंटी नहीं है।
इस ठेका प्रथा में मज़दूरों और उनके परिवार के सदस्यों के लिए हेल्थ की सुविधा नहीं है और उन्हें पेंशन के अधिकार से वंचित किया जाता है।
इस ठेकेदारी प्रथा से बड़े काॅरपोरेट, ठेका एजेंन्सियों और सरकारों के गठजोड़ से मज़दूरों का अति-शोषण हो रहा है।
मेरा आपसे सवाल है, क्या आपको लगता है कि ठेकेदारी प्रथा को खत्म करने की मांग सरकार से देश की जनता को करनी चाहिए?

ठेकेदारी प्रथा सरकारी एवम निजी, दोनों क्षेत्रों में, महामारी जैसे फैली है। स्थाई एवम अस्थाई दोनों ही मजदूरों ने इसके खिलाफ मिलकर आवाज उठाना अति आवश्यक है। इस मामले में, साल दर साल, पूंजीपतियों की सभी पार्टियों ने किस तरह भूमिका अदा की है, यह सभी के सामने पेश करेंगे तो बहुत अच्छा होगा
