Because this isn't FIFA ¬¬ We are in the middle of the season, world class players are in big teams that won't let key players go for cheap half-way through the season, some of these teams are in good positions in the Champions and other cups and won't want to lose a player that can be vital to them winning, also, the player have to agree to change teams and go to a completely different tactic style in a totally different league/country out of nowhere. So, like I said...this isn't FIFA.

Your absolutely right. January transfer window is a tricky one. Clubs know City are looking for players in certain positions so its very likely they will play hard ball in terms of price. It was a romantic idea re-signing gundo...but it hasn't worked out... Plus, there's no room for that in competitive sport. We need to start a rebuild now. Bernardo, walker, ake, stones, kdb, gundo, all need to go. We need younger players, quicker players and players who apend more time on the pitch than the treatment room. We need players who have the ability to provide a threat with goals from midfield from outside the box to counteract teams who sit deep.

A few minutes ago, the Media Coordinator of the First Egyptian National Football team Mohamed Mourad announced on Facebook that Egypt's International Omar Marmoush signed his Manchester City contract. Mourad highlighted that the move of Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Citizens will be for £50 million. Tbf, the problems didn’t start in last summer trans windows, it all started in the summer window following the treble. Who did City bring in to replace Gundo, Mahrez and a proper backup for Rodri (after publicly stating he needed rest) and then to top it all off, and after massive KDB injury, they sell Palmer to boot? No one. But I guess I must be a moron for questioning it when it happened? Let’s be honest here, Txiki, the board and Pep to a degree (more so last summer from the available info) all let their ego along with some hubris get in the way of their normally ruthlessly efficient transfer strategies and then they carried it on further last summer to an even greater extent. That said, I’m not nor have I ever questioned the seriousness of the club, but I have absolutely been questioning their transfer strategy as it has been demonstrably poor. As per the money issue and actually attaining a player, yes we will have to pay over the odds for just about anyone who doesn’t have a release clause. However, that’s the position that Txiki, the City board and Pep (to a degree) have put themselves into and they’re gonna have to pay proper big money IF they want to give themselves the best possible opportunity to get CL for next season. Bc if we’re honest and based on current form along with how well other teams are playing (NF for example), the likelihood of us getting top 4 is extraordinarily low, especially given the players we have, Pep’s system which has been an abject failure (see this season’s performances). This of course could all change (Pep adapts his system to his players or City bring in some ready made players or a combo of both), but I’m going on what is known vs what could be. And to get out of these extraordinary circumstances we’ve gotten ourselves into, it will take extraordinary steps to do so…

I agree to be fair. I think the problems do go back into previous windows. In the previous season we had the incentive to win an unprecedented 4 in a row, combined with these players being 1 year younger and fitter, and that got us over the line. This should have been identified and addressed in the most recent window. January is when the club must start rectifying the mistakes of the summer. I certainly don’t think any single individual at the club involved in the recent transfer decision making should be held accountable in the form of a long term punishment. I.e “Txiki out…” Especially considering those same individuals are the reason for our success.

Rather, a number of people along with a number of different situations over a period of time led to this. All that said, they (inclusive) have to own the mistakes made and rectify them as needed to get us back on track. If that means eating some humble pie, so be it. Cmon, the season we won the treble was the season to rebuild and buy the best young players. We were linked with florian wirtz 3 seasons ago, musiala 2 seasons ago. Recruitment has been atrocious for 3/4 seasons. Spunked 100m on a poster boy grealish, 50 mil doku, 50 mil nunes, 70 mil gvardiol etc etc. Aside haaland, ask yourself when did we last go out and target the best, or target the best youngsters to develop (gvardiol excepted). Other clubs have found talent to develop, we have dropped the ball massively over 4 seasons and now it's come to roost this season. Old legs, or players never good enough - walker rubbish from day 1, stones sicknote, gundo 1 good season in 8 at City, kovacic no pace, rico lewis league 1 level. Cashed in on palmer, now worth 100m, bynoe gittens now worth 40m, Liam delap now worth 30m

@ Exactly mate, Stones or Akanji are far better defenders than Rico/Walker so when they move up into midfield from CB, all they have to do is sit infront of the back three while the rest of the midfield can press higher. It seems like too much ground to cover to be inverting from a wide position instead of just moving up from the centre
