@BringingTheHeat-VBC but in all serious is your not aware of that term is one of the names people in the hobby use to describe a box that is a lot better than your average box. Now that could mean it has multiple autos instead of 1, lots of numbered card, if its a new product it could have low #/ parallels of top rookies etc... pretty much. So yeah if you ever hear anyone talking about hot box's relating to cards you now know they're either talking about a really great box of cards or backyard breaks.
@ericsakamoto565713 күн бұрын
They can’t enforce it and will never know if anyone scans a box. So it’s all fluff and a bunch of nothing
@grim774713 күн бұрын
Exactly. I never understood why companies believe some words in a terms of service agreement makes everything better. PSA: "We won't grade cards with foreign substances." Topps: "We will punish any direct accounts that knowingly use CT scanners or any other such device." Well, damn, I feel so much better now.
@JeffreyBeckerPhotographs12 күн бұрын
I disagree. All it takes is a couple employees with loose lips and Topps can lay the hammer. Topps can ban anyone they want under suspicion. It’s not like stores have a legal right to the boxes.
@stevem920311 күн бұрын
100% correct. This is all on them. Instead of all this stuff that they have no way to prove they should be making their boxes resistant to scanning. This is all smoke.

Memories are short - in the world today it seems like nothing sticks and we all know that the right person with the right social media presence would be able to weather the storm. Kudos to this step by Topps to realize that the interests of collectors are aligned with their own and to put in declarative statements with some weight.

Just a question, if someone buys a box of topps and takes it home and CT scan it. They realize the box doesn’t have any hits in it and they decide to sell it on EBay, can Topps go after that person if it’s been proven he did such a thing? I would think CT scanning isn’t against the law on anything you own.

So is this someone that has one in their garage at home or is it something where someone asks a clinician or worker at one of the little MRI/CT scan clinics? Is that where they scan them? I guess I'm just commenting without having watched yet I wonder, the only people that have access that I know of are people that work at those clinics. They could likely do it when you might be scanning 100 boxes then it's a big deal. There have been shady interests in baseball cards with fakes and fake grades and wax/cello issues abound. Back in the day the thing they would do was buy 20 boxes of 89 upper deck and open one box at a time until they got the Griffey then they would take the rest of the packs and make full boxes out of them. So it ended up you pay a premium for the hope and assumption that you may get the card you want. Then you open an entire box of upper deck and don't get a single Griffey. Then you hear that story and it makes sense. Upper deck made the foil pack so that was supposed to stop the open and reseal. So that's how they beat that one and now this. This type of negative news just reminds me of some of the shady stuff from the past and likely throws a damper on this trend.

Here is one...what about allocation for breakers? Stores allocation is being cut all the time...unless you break in shop and are on Fanatics. 20 and 30 year stores with 3 to 5 case allocation now getting 1 to 2 cases of new releases. 1. How are they gonna catch you? 2. How are they gonna check stores? 3. How are they gonna check the homes of breakers? When will the hobby be able to question Topps? No softball on a tee questions, just answer questions, give us the straight dope! No bs, no fluff, no rhetorical bs. That is what collectors would want to know. I do love the thinner card stock same as base for hits so those scummy d-bags can't weigh mega boxes of Bowman, Topps LogoFractor etc. WE HAVE QUESTIONS TOPPS...HOW IN THE HELL ARE YOU GONNA CHECK THIS?

The most intriguing thing about the comment thread on this video are that the same people complaining that Topps/Fanatics need to do something to curb CT scanning are the same people complaining that Topps is now enforcing rules wrapped around it. Some people just love to complain, and complain. Topps is doing what they can to discourage scanning, and the same people who roll their eyes that nothing gets done, now roll their eyes when something is being done. :)

Most bad actors who involve themselves into CT scanning send their boxes or cases to places who runs a CT scanning business. After finding nothing in them gets put up for sale at ebay. What Topps needs to do is find a way to get wrappers that can block out CT scanning. BTW what's our friends over Panini doing about it?

It’s a policy for their direct sellers, but a customer can buy a case, CT Scan it, and open the box with the big hit, then sell the other boxes back to a store. Steelcity, Blowout advertise the boxes they buy, then resell, but the big hits are no longer accessible. In other words, it does not prevent it.

it's just words, and how do we/they know what's been scanned or weighed other than an invoice or video evidence of it they can't go off on Larry, who is mad at Cliff and reports it to the topps hotline. I say the easiest fix is to make their product better to where you got 1/2 or 3/4 of a case with good stuff instead on one hot box in a case. Also how hard is it to make all the packs to weigh the same or put fancy fake slightly heavier cards in boxes to make people think they got something. i know it's probably part of there packaging process to help save time and money but do better or do it by hand.

Topps should take a note and allready mark certain people who said they did and what others said about those individuals and groups. They would most likely sell the boxes that don't have anything. Would also consider those individuals that might use bots to buy out all of the inventories in Topps website and other corporation websites and limit their buys to a handful

So, are these the tech improvements you were saying Topps would implement to stop CT scanning, while arguing that they’ll do SOMETHING to stop it? I stand by my statement: They can’t stop it…they should lean into it and serialize every box AND create a public database with the contents of each box (hits only). Boxes would still be distributed randomly, but it would be on the consumer to check the contents (if they want…maybe they like the surprise). Then the secondary market could price the boxes according to what’s inside. Breaking would be hurt, and it’d change things at LCS’, but it would put an end to all pack/box searching.
@NEO_Cards_Comics13 күн бұрын
Tech improvements would be something that other blocks of or some that would red flag it if the box went thru scanner. Which is exactly what I said in the video.

@ Research it, you’ll find those radiation strips turn colors over time due to environmental radiation OR if you take them on a plane. That’s all you need is USPS air mailing your flawless case and presto, now you’ve got a problem. Imagine the argument between the buyer and seller. This jack is out of the box. Why is everyone thinking they can have their cake and eat it too? The hobby will have to fundamentally change regarding wax. So be it, moving forward.
