As someone who landed their first internship by way of a DEI program, I can tell you first hand that they are back handed promotional programs to make business look better from an optics standpoint. Look at the retention rates of DEI hires during the Biden craziness. Hire DEI candidates at low levels and keep them there. Very few instances I’ve come across where those DEI hires find themselves reaching managerial levels at that same employer
