Rubbish! We, the Danes don’t consider Queen Mary the “power behind the throne” that power has always rested with Queen Margrethe. We do acknowledge that Queen Mary has been a good and supportive match for our King.

Prince Joachim was present. And when the Queen was proclaimed Queen in 1972 her sisters and their families were not present on the balcony either.
