I feel so bad for Marcelo. He was having such a good season and was hoping to end it on a high note. Hopefully he can come back healthy. He knows his own body better than anyone, and he is smart abt it.

Just heard this on the Sports Hub, pretty rough…he’s had multiple injuries over the past few years, when healthy, he’s great, but he has that concern. Bummed out, but hoping for a quick and proper recovery.

I agree that it's because they *don't* want any injury in MiLB long term thing in their career later. JT doesnt play on that foot last year if he was in AAA as a 21 year old right? If Mayer was contributing on the MLB roster, he might play through it a bit. I agree with everything you're sayin, letting him learn his body is the most important thing

His injury is no big deal. I would be concerned if it was his shoulder. I also, do not think it will slow his progress. Trevor Story is a huge reason for his delay. He could spend the whole 2025 in AAA or at least until Tevor gets injured. I do think he will be back this year. I do not think any of the big 4 get a September call up. Campbell and Teale will be the first up. There is no hurry. There will need to be a lot of trades to get all 4 up. The longer they stay in minors, the longer the Red Sox have control. If any start 2025 on the major league roster and win rookie of the year will give the Red Sox and extra draft choice.

I’m not surprised at all. I was opening my eBay package of Cespedes Rookies only 10 mins ago. My Son comes over to see what I’m doing, asks me if he’s a good player, then asks me if he’s better than Mayer because he knows how many cards I have on him. Just got thru telling him Cespedes is out for the Season, and hoping he’s not injury prone like Mayer. I then go outside for a cigarette with my iPad to read my best Red Sox blogger and read this. Sorry about the long message, just pissed off about this kid. Heck of a ball player, even a better individual, but like Parcells used to say, you can’t make the Club in the Tub. I think I complained enough for one night

I'm not at all concerned about this year with him but it's starting to become a trend and we certainly don't want another SS who we pay and can't play. With any luck he won't have too many more of these but if it happens again next year it will really make me wonder.
@redseatradio2 ай бұрын
Yeah it happens again next year it’s a big problem. Good news is they won’t have to pay him for about 6 more years tho and that’s if he gets rookie status next year
@Versatilty2 ай бұрын
@@redseatradio well yeah but I mean paying Story and him both not to play because even if it isn't much you see what happens when we don't have a solid SS at the MLB level... Btw did you see my comment on the last vid? (Interesting vid idea?)

Not a bad suggestion ... Tom Brady's personal trainer Alex Guerrero could likely better educate and assist Meyer in modifying his physical training and workout regiment to better avoid future injuries ... I wonder how open the Red Sox training staff would be to that possibility ??? ...

I am thinking whether Mayer is a fit. Story has two more years… given Story’s injury history Mayer may be perfect to step in. On the other hand if Story is healthy where does Mayer play? Would it be better to trade him and look at Franklin Arias, Nazzan Zanetello, or Yoelin Cespedes as the short stop of the future?

I don't think he's a major injury concern, I'm excited to see him in Boston! That said with these four guys getting ready to come up to MLB, how do you think it affects the roster? Who are the four bumped? Jansen is an obvious one but who else?
