I have had 2 concussions, one with amnesia. It did take a while to recover. My "understanding" MIL said after the first one, if it wasn't for her hard Irish head she would be dead. I’ve had a concussion. It took nine months for my balance to stabilise to where I didn’t fall over if I did anything involving a change of equilibrium like turn around or use steps/stairs without holding onto a support and moving slowly. I wish Anne all the best in her recovery and very much hope she will take the time needed to rest and recover fully.

Healing from contusion needs a lot of time. I remember a month of 'acrobatic flying' when going to bed, although I could do everything else.

Anyone who has suffered a Severe Concussion or is a Relative or Friend of someone who has, knows just how difficult it can be to recover from. The outward signs of Bruising & Inflammation may disappear relatively quickly, but other injuries may not & that is not Age Specific either. Concussion, even Severe Concussion may be at the lower end of the Head Injury Spectrum, but it can cause some quite frightening consequences. When you consider that even Experts don't yet fully understand how certain parts of the Human Brain work & how they may affect a person if damaged at all, it's not really Surprising that the Princess Royal's Medical Team is being very cautious in their handling of her. A Severe Concussion has been known to show symptoms consistent with a Mild Stroke, which are not Permanent, but can be disconcerting, especially to a Person of Princess Anne's character & could quite certainly make them impatient. The Princess Royal has such a Healthy Constitution, I'm sure she must be finding being subject to enforced inactivity most irksome. She is her Father's Daughter in as much that she will not be very happy in having to consent to it but as she shares his Common sense too, she'll follow whatever her Dr's prescribe. I hope she will soon be up & about & perhaps even pay her usual visit to Balmoral, where she would rest very well, without the day to day cares of Running her Gatcombe Estate.

How old is this ‘ news’ it was said when the Princess Royal came out of hospital her ‘ public duties’ would be greatly reduced until she was fully recovered. There is absolutely NOTHING UNEXPECTED ABOUT IT. Here’s a tit bit for the ‘ experts’ she like any horse rider after an head injury, will be BANNED from riding ( who’d have thought it) until Doctors clear her. This can be from weeks to months . Give it a rest , she’s 74 in August,would your mum dash round doing hundreds of events she immediately got out of hospital.
