Sheikh Belal Assad from Melbourne, Victoria speaks on the topic of Social Media Addiction.
This lecture was delivered at the "Breaking The Chains 2019" Youth Conference organised by the Youth Office of The Islamic Centre of West Australia and Curtin Muslim Student Association at The Curtin University of Western Australia.
Breaking The Chains will be a series of conferences, workshops tackling the issues and addictions of today's time. With the help of Allah and the community we will break the chains of addictions which affect the community.

What to watch out for: - You have to watch out for what you are doing. You have to avoid the news feed. That's where people put nonsense stuff about their lives, feeling sorry for themselves, some people want to make themselves look big and whatever. You keep on scrolling and you never stop.

Notes: What is good about social media? - The Prophet SAW said: "The believer (the person who is sincere and has proper goals and proper intentions really for the sake of Allah he or she is doing it) who mixes with the people and is patient and persevering and resilient with the harm that comes from them as a result of mixing with the people and giving them da'wah like teaching them about what Allah SWT loves and what he has sent the messengers for so giving da'wah and being patient when mixing with the people in giving that da'wah is much more better and greater to Allah than a believer who sits back and does not sit with the people and does not need to be patient with any of their harm and their words.

Tip that might help others, literally uninstall facebook, watsapp etc so when your swipping your phone screen it's simply not there to click on. Give yourself an hour a day with this stuff. Oh and when u accept friend requests on Facebook just unfollow who your not actual friends with ... and be careful of the helping animal videos 😂
