From what I understand, in Calamity lore he's actively battling Yharim and prevented him from summoning the Moon Lord thanks to his "uncanny power over the arcane", making Yharim despise him. So he's a certified badass who defeated the strongest man alive and a "good guy". Until we slaughtered him anyway. In regular Terraria lore, he's the leader of a coven who seeks to reinstate Cthulhu, summoning the Moon Lord in the process.

The thing that makes the lunatic cultist my favorite boss in terraria is the fact that he's the same size as the player. He's most likely human. And he has voice lines that sound vaguely human but are just vocal enough to the point where it falls into a sort of uncanny valley. In other words, you are basically fighting another player in an intense and desperate control for power.

According to the lore, the cultist was trying to bring moon lord/cthulu back to life, but according to red, he was trying to destroy cthulu. So you either kill before he finishes moon lord so he has no legs, or you kill him before he destroys him so hes just an upper body

Yes but consider this: in calamity lore he appears to Ben sealing the moon lord, when killed what he says sounds like a warning (he will rule your world, I warn you all, etc.) and throws in the pillars as a last ditch attempt to stop the moon lord from returning. I.e, the moon lord CAN’T assault terraria with the pillars still being “alive.”

Well then... The chiming sounds at the beginning show a sort of Mysticality that comes with a Magic User such as the Lunatic Cultist. The low pitched sound of a strings(?) issues a warning to the player, as if to say that you were making a mistake. I would like to point out that there was nothing overly intense or eerie present in this song. I think that this was due to the Lunatic Cultist being the most like yourself that you have ever fought, not like the Mechanical Monstrosities that plague the Night or Large Insects that roam the Jungle. This is reinforced by the section that houses piano as its main instrument of choice for creating more of a reassuring feeling that this enemy is one that you have a fair chance against (maybe that is why LC is so easy). And finally, the fact that this is remixed. I personally enjoy this version better, maybe because it is new, maybe because it is more refined from skill. Whatever it may be, good job on yet another great piece!

Update in fargos soul mod you can summon you're lunatic. Shots lightnng, spinning ice attack, and the 3 homing fire. In Case u are wondering the item is called chalice of the moon.
