A United Airlines flight from IAH to LaGuardia caught the moment a fire took place during takeoff. The FAA said in a statement, "The crew of United Airlines Flight 1382 safely aborted its takeoff from the George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport in Texas due to a reported engine issue around 8:35 a.m. local time on Sunday, Feb. 2. Passengers deplaned on the runway and were bused to the terminal. The Airbus A319 was flying to LaGuardia Airport in New York. The FAA will investigate. Contact the airline for additional information."
Video shared by FOX 26 showed flight attendants asking for passengers to stay in their seats. "No, it's on fire!" one of the passengers can be heard saying in the background.
Houston Fire said they did not have to put out a fire in connection to the incident. Posting on X, "HFD did not put out a fire on this incident."
United Airlines Statement:
"During takeoff, United flight 1382 received an indication about one engine and halted the takeoff while still on the runway. Passengers deplaned on the runway via a combination of slides and stairs and were bused to the terminal. There are no reported injuries at this time. We have lined up a
different aircraft to take customers to their destination at 12:30 p.m. CT."

I get it, it feels safer to be in your car. You feel more in control. Put it in perspective. About 100 people die in car crashes each day in the USA. About 40000 a year. About 300 or so people died in the WORLD in 2024 from plane crashes. The biggest number coming from that horrible Korean accident. Stats show it is safer to fly and will continue that way. Our biggest fear is having no control if something bad happens on a flight. I can only imagine the horror that would feel like. Stay safe stay vigilant

i get you're joking but driving a car (especially in the US lol) is way way more dangerous than flying on a plane yall mfs acting like there haven't been thousands of normal flights, yeah its strange seeing 3 flight incidents in a short period of time but it's still that's a very rare occurrence

It may not be a big greedy corporation issue, but rather an alternate form of making people feel uncomfortable strategy by people who don't like us. The Philly flight is not something that generally just happens either. if certain people have infiltrated air crews or groundcrews, it may be bad people messing with the vehicles.

I was an air ambulance mechanic and every day I had to struggle with my morals because my employer puts profit before safety. One day I was going the extra mile and my boss asked me why I was taking so long. I then told him I treat everything as if it was my own. He got extremely upset and threw a temper tantrum while berating me in front of my fellow coworkers. Completely toxic environment, especially when you are working on airplanes. ill bet an entire months worth of salary on the problem beeing neglected maintenance. "Not enough time? Do it Later. To expensive? Buy cheaper" Its nit that Planes arent safe or anything. They are just mishandled. Imagine buying a brand new Car. And you think to yourself Oilchange every 10k mikes/1y? nah 3x that are enough. At first it wont be a problem but suddenly after 11 years your Engine breaks down while others with the exact same engine drive it to 30y+. MAINTENANCE IS IMPORTANT Also Remember to change your Oil

Only if the incident is clearly similar. These are random occurrences and the engine fire wouldn't normally warrant coverage except that "news" falls prey to the same "viral algorithm" that tends to promote things similar to what you've already seen. It's self-perpetuating. If you knew the number of road accidents that occur everywhere in the world, every day, you'd never get in a car. But you wouldn't call it enemy action.

Ok! This is getting ridiculous! When there’s one plane crash, we mourn for the families, and the victims. When there is a second crash just a day or two later, we begin to wonder. But when there’s a THIRD catastrophe involving a plane within days of the first two…it’s easy to understand why many people would think that something dark is playing out behind the scenes.

A pilot, speaking on the Philadelphia Lear Jet crash, said that if the fuel was contaminated the jet could have problems with/engine. He further stated pilots who throttle up engines prior to takeoff reduce risk of catastrophe mid-air; as being on the tarmac, there could be an exit to safety. Makes perfect sense, these days, to check before being in the air. He spoke as a knowledgeable person who is a pilot.

There are thousands and thousands of airplanes flying right now. Out of all of those there was a deadly collision and a private non-airline jet crash. Now an incident, not an accident happens with no injuries. It's still the safest way to travel. You have more of a chance of being in a car accident than an airplane crash. The Helicopter flew into an Airliner that was locked on target to the runway following normal operations. While absolutely gut-wrenching tragic, there were thousands of other airplanes flying. I've been a flight attendant for over 25 years. Ive ever only had 1 close call and never an emergency which caused the plane any damage. Don't let fear stop you from flying.

Last year was a horrible year for aviation in the US. The media just found a way to make money of all these small things now. If this was on purpose, wouldnt it be smarter to make it start buring in the air. As a former airport employe, this is stuff we are trained to deal with. It is a reason there always are TWO people during every pushback (departure). One to drive the car and one in communication with the pilots in the cockpit incase this happens.
