I have been diagnosed with stage III pancreatic cancer, status post Whipple procedure, currently beginning a second course of chemotherapy. I discovered the Hirshberg Foundation this morning, and listened to this podcast while making breakfast. I was so impressed with what was said here that after breakfast, I listened to it again, taking notes as I did so. I intend on making good use of what I have learned here today. Thank you!!

My mom was a 16 year PC survivor when she passed away from a fall unfortunately. She was 84. She had a whipple, chemo and radiation followed by a strict macrobiotic diet, but the prayer and positivity was the real treatment! She was treated at Cleveland Clinic.

Just taken the first step down this unchosen road. My beautiful 35 year old daughter gave birth to my second grandson almost a year ago today and was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer last week. We are reeling. She has to survive. I have buried one child. I cannot bury two.

Modified version of Wendy's list: 1. Adopt a wellness stance. You're not dying, you're on your road to wellness. Surround yourself with people who know the same. Don't interact with anyone negative. You'll NEVER gain anything from thinking the worst. People survive these things. Why can't you be one of them? 2. Fiercely listen to your intuition. Learn to follow your heart. If someone makes you feel bad, they're probably not the person for you. 3. Listen to your body! Your body is talking to you. Don't ignore it! Be grateful for the lessons. Thank your body for them. Say it out loud. Language is powerful. 4. Radical self-compassion - talk to yourself. Tell yourself how proud you are of every little victory AND every little struggle. You're a warrior - never forget that! 5. Learn to receive help. It's hard for so many of us to ask for and receive help. People who develop cancer tend to be very good at helping others and very bad at letting others help them. CHANGE THAT! Remember: You'll get better and you'll repay these favors for someone else! 6. Stillness is a spiritual practice. REST and get out into nature as much as possible. 7. Find your sense of humor. Laugh at the world and at yourself. 8. Take some time off from cancer. Any time. A night out, a week off, an hour. However much time, just pretend you don't have it. 9. SUPPLEMENTS - turmeric, curcumin, CBD, 10> Don't be afraid of woo-woo stuff - sound baths, crystals, moon-gazing, tree-hugging, etc...whatever makes you FEEL good is good for you in this department. 11: Develop a game plan - what will your life look like after you make cancer afraid it ever messed with you? CREATE a beautiful life. Draw pictures, write stories, make lists - whatever you need to do to visualize, then crystalize your life after cancer. -Wendy Hammers Wendyhammers.com
