I am living in the US. I can say that he is incorrect about taxes in the US. In the US for employees the tax structure is split into state and federal. Federal taxes are between 0 to 35% depending on income bracket. State taxes depend on the state that you live in for example Washington has no income tax. California state taxes vary between 0 and 25% depending on income. Additionally, if your income is through Business, then taxes are far lower for both state and federal because of certain additional things in the tax code. So 600k tax on 1M is incorrect.
