He seems to run sharper the melbourne way of going, used to a big crowd and sticks on well with power at end of his races...i feel given a draw 10 or in, he will be difficult to catch once he hits the front at the 300 of the melb cup especially on a good track which is expectef

I just can't see him winning. It will need to be a serious tempo just like in the Tenno Sho Spring where he had his best result.

Could win Melbourne Cup,In the last 100m of Caufield Cup,him and Valiant King are blocked in middle and gets checked. If he draws good barrier and gets good run,Gameover.This Japanese horses have good history I'm the Melbourne Cup.

I didn't like his run in the C Cup. He just couldn't quicken/accelerate. It wasn't the performance I was expecting.

Yeah, when I had only looked at preps of Mer De Glace & Lys Gracieux I was a little worried but seeing Admire Rakti & Delta Blues had not managed to win the Copa Rep. Argentina yet won G1s here, I'm a bit more of a believer. I really fancied West Wind Blows for the CCup until the barrier draw.

@@lewdubspersonalbest9070 - Decade after decade we see numerous examples of a wide barrier being no disadvantage in the Caulfield Cup. Without a Doubt and Gold Trip also have a great chance along with West Wind. - the Copa reminds me a bit of the Turnbull in that it isn't WFA but Set Weights and Penalties and often throws up some strange results. I watched Delta Blues win the Kikuka Sho in my Kyoto living room and wondered why this class of horse hadn't been tested in the Melbourne Cup - 12 months on and it wins easily.

Absolute nonsense to say this horse has no chance. He would be within 5 or 6 lengths of the World's best over 1 mile 4 furlongs. (see japanese placing in The Arc this year) off level weight. Japan has the Number 1 middle distance rated horse in the world. He was off for 4 months before turning up at the CC finishing off flat in the last 300 meters, but only 5 lengths adrift after having every chance at the 500 meters pole. He is undoubtedly a very stout stayer. Youll need to be this year as Vauban will make it a pure staying contest. Breakup will come on a ton for his last race, he looked like he was carrying condition that day. A sharper Breakup, with natural gate speed, could be hunting them up from about 3rd or 4th with a circuit to go. His staying prowess could see him bang there in the latter stages. Never discount a Japanese horse. Breakup certainly has a chance.

Yes, his form looks good, but this is a monster 24 horse field, will he cope with the noise and atmosphere, and they're saying that he's been a bit flighty and excitable in training. For me, it's worth taking him on.

Vauban reminds me of Yeats in 2006. Unbelievable wins in UK/Ireland. Led but tired. The winner? 🇯🇵
