One day, I opened up the album and started listening to it. Found out every single song in that album became my favourites. There is so much flavour and emotions in those songs. the key is to understand music theory and an acceptable number of chords as a basis. Over time that helps you "invent" chords that even if you don't know their names, you know that they can work well.
@Redmile20062 жыл бұрын
@@eduardoaguileraneicun5876 I was talking about getting inspiration for writing lyrics, not music. I just thought it was funny that he didn't know the name of the chord. Chris is so humble about the process. OK, so he sort of stumbled on those pretty chords in that alternate tuning, and the initial lyrics came somewhat randomly. But that’s the story of a million songs. What he doesn’t tell you - at least in this clip - is how the words and melody and chords came together into such a heartfelt, moving, beautiful song. That’s what’s special. It obviously takes talent. But I’ve heard it also takes writing tons of bad songs to strike gold like that. Even if he never wrote another good song in his life, he’s created something truly timeless, and that he can go to the grave proud of.

Around the same years, 97-98 maybe, I stumbled upon that same tuning (high E string down half a step, to make the open B chord sound good, probably jamming around 'Just' by Radiohead, which is in B). I didn't know any song with that tuning so I was kinda proud of it, wrote a song with it. When Yellow came out a couple of years later I couldn't believe it. Loved the song right away. So many bands shared that same Radiohead+Buckley influence back then.
