Gremlin is the reason I rage-quit this game back in the day, I had no problems at all until then, and then kept attacking and attacking on his 'second wind', to no avail... FU Gremlin!

Found on the one year anniversary of the video. Also, good vid. Not the strategies I use when playing the game, but you did really well, considering the levels shown. Also, good video in general, as BoF 1 had some fairly interesting art design in it. Still my favorite version of the Goddess, mostly because she really looks like a horror from beyond time and space.

It's one of my favorite JRPGs, I've been playing it since it was new. Just curious, what kind of strategies do you use? That's kind of the point of my videos, everyone does things a different way, we can learn from each other.

Heh, when I say strategy, I mean mostly I just grind a lot. I prefer the SNES version, due to a few reasons, mostly related to the color pallet. Seriously, hate the washed out look things get in the GBA version, even if the cutscenes like with the robot are definitely better looking. Anyway, for the frog, I'm usually level 9, and a bit higher, about 12 or so for the Knight. After that, I don't have to focus on it so much due to the Gown and SageML special effects, that they increase encounter rates. With those on, I can keep Ryu at a high enough level that a single pass of the Rang type weapons is enough to one shot most, not all but most, random encounters. As for favorite, this is indeed up there for me. Love the simplicity of it all. It's a well told story that's just the basics. And then there's that ending. Best silent ending in games, period, especially as it tells quite a lot with just the visuals of it, via you getting to know the characters pretty well....except Mogu. I know nothing about him other than he needs to stop eating pizza before bed or he gets weird dreams. Then there's the Special Bonus Boss. So, so many games have ones like that, but this is the only game that I think nails the concept. You get a move, Agni, that is so powerful that it can steam roll all other opponents, and even the special end boss, if you don't feel like fighting, can be fought with just that. But then, if you want, you can fight it with normal characters, and it's quite the challenge. That is excellence in design. And heck, I discovered Agni on my own by accident. Went to fill the Jar after I got the Gills at one point, and it was there.

Gotcha. I'm no stranger to grinding since I have beat The 7th Saga multiple times haha. Usually the first time I play a JRPG, that is how I do it, I make sure I am overleveled so I can focus more on getting used to the game rather than being stressed out by it. Same way I beat Breath of the Wild, I wasted so many hours just hoarding items and getting good at fighting. Yeah the GBA port is not as good, same with the Final Fantasys as well. I am a huge fan of BOF 1-3, 2 has such a fantastic story with the false religion thing, and 3 is a very solid game with one of my favorite soundtracks ever. I admit I haven't really kept up on it after 4 though.

Need to play Breath sometime. I own a Wii U after all. As for 7th Saga, yeah, played that one a few times myself. As much as the sound can get annoying, I mostly play Lux there, as he eventually becomes near invulnerable, plus that last minute stat boost in the final area for him is quite the power buff. As for the GBA ports, they were good tries, and a lot of what they did was designed to make the games easier to play, both visually and in terms of game difficulty. The big issues with them tended to be that they went overboard with the visuals, which soured a lot of the gameplay experience for me. I don't mind them turning down the difficulty myself, as it was just a skip of grinding, but still. I do like the FF6 redux myself, however. For the GBA anyway, the latest one sucked due to bad art design. The FF6 Advanced game, however, had a lot of neat new additions that gave challenge back to a game that had a weird problem with difficulty near the end. Now, that was a design issue, as they only allowed HP values of 2 hex blocks, so the max was 65535, but still, it was an issue, one they tried to fix in Advanced by adding new ways to beat baddies in the Dragon Cave. All that said, I still love the SNES originals more, both because of the more vibrant/contrasting colors, and just because first girl wins. My favorites, BTW, were Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Evermore for the SNES. Both Square games, and both quite a lot of fun, with some very unique aspects to them that made them play differently than anything else.

Breath of the Wild totally took me by surprise. I put about 350 hours into my first playthrough of it, but I did EVERYTHING, including finding all 900 Korok seeds. I said for nearly 20 years that Ocarina was the best Zelda, but I think it's been dethroned. BOTW is the best game I have played in many, many years. I haven't felt so infatuated with a video game in a long time, maybe since Kingdom Hearts 2. I agree on the GBA ports, it was nice to be able to play those games on the go, but my biggest complaint is the sound. I'm very much into game music (not sure if you've seen anything else on my channel but I do cover some on guitar). The music is garbage on the GBA due to limitations of the system. FFVI is my favorite game of all time, not just my favorite JRPG. For me, it was the pinnacle of the series and the gold standard to how those types of games should be made. IV was actually my first one when it was new, I rented it off the shelf at the game store, so I have so much love for it. VII is up there as well, and I have to say I'm super dubious about the remake due to the changes they are proposing. Back in the 90s, I did play everything possible by Squaresoft and Enix. I'm not huge on newer games, like I said I've played Kingdom Hearts but that's about as new as it gets. Highly recommend you try BOTW.

shouldnt wisp,cloud and myst be their own numbers 22,23 and 24. plus u didnt add the rogue boss battle. and i wouldve had both goddess battles on this.

Gremlin was overpowered to fight against. Dude constantly wrecked your team. Nina and Bo having insanely low defense didn't help at all.

Use the b. Rang for the k. Roach to do 999 damage to all k. Roachs 1 k. Roach has 3396 hearts.

Hehe I noticed that too in my second run. The first time I played this I got stuck in some phasds and that "helped" me grind some levels so when I fought the bosses they didn't feel that hard

​​@@diegoivbethat is why my motto in RPGs is to gain experience and level up as much as possible in the begining, because your party can grow fast. Bosses can be overwhelming if your characters aren't strong enough.
